What can I use to make my legs look lovely?!

I am very pale and have red knees that I can not get rid of. Fake tan helps to a degree but leaves my red knees either red (if I don’t touch them with the tan) or orange with a very light touch of tan. What product can I use on them that will make them look even and nice so I can be confident getting them out to go out?! Not that salt Hansen leg spray as that makes me look like I’m wearing those old lady fake tan tights.... I have tried shimmery oils and whilst lovely do nothing ...

I use the Dove gradual tan on my legs...it comes out very natural

Loserinlove · 19/06/2021 21:43

Thanks @Comedycook I have tried a lot of gradual tans And most do nothing. st tropez one was the best but I don’t go very dark and knees still go orange regardless of what I do. I’m after something I can slap all over before I go out that is transfer/water proof I think

Scott Barnes body bling. If its good enough for JLO. Not cheap but impressive.

Loserinlove · 19/06/2021 22:02

@Recruit2020 not heard of it will have a google, have you used it? I don’t mind spending Money if it’s decent

Bondi sands gradual tanning milk

Rimmel summer glow wash off tan

cheeseisnice · 19/06/2021 22:10

Vita Liberata Body Blur. I'm fair and blonde, use the Latte shade and it's gorgeous.

RRK593 · 19/06/2021 22:29

I swear by bare by vogue now (I use ultra dark and I'm pretty pale but there are three or four different colour shades). It smells amazing and it feels so silky when it goes on. Have you tried a good exfoliating scrub on your knees before tanning so it doesn't hold the colour as much?

wizzywig · 19/06/2021 22:37

Try s19. If you use the code 'hannahsentme' you get a free brush. But you have to put both the product and the brush in your basket, and then the code works. s19lab.com/collections/body-makeup

Vita liberate body blur is worth the cost if it's in your price range. A bottle lasts longer than I thought but I do think it's a bit pricey.

Rimmel sunshimmer instant matte tan is also a very good budget version and what I'd get for casual use. I use shade light in that and latte in the vita liberata, both are very blendable.

Loserinlove · 20/06/2021 08:01

@RRK593 yea have tried many things. I don’t know why they are so red. They constantly look like I have been kneeling down Grin

I’m not keen on the Rimmel one. I’ll have a look at the body blur. Is it transfer proof? Won’t come off on furniture or run if you get caught in the rain?

Yup, body blur is my recommendation too.
Naaaaah · 20/06/2021 08:26

Nothing is totally bullet proof. If you're wearing any body makeup and smear your legs against your cream sofa, any product will transfer a bit.

Loserinlove · 20/06/2021 08:36

@Naaaaah I was just reading reviews on this. Some are mixed. I’m more worried about if I was out and spilt my drink ... am I going to get patches come off?!

OP posts:
Naaaaah · 20/06/2021 08:53

Well, if you slosh your drink all down you when you're out, your fake tan isnt really going to be your number one worry! That said, BB is fairly resilient and will withstand a bit of G&T being thrown at it.

ShadowKitty · 20/06/2021 09:01

I mix Ester Lauder double wear maximum cover foundation with body lotion and use that on my legs - mine are pale and you can see my hair follicles etc so it gives me some coverage I don't get from fake tan. I haven't had any issue with it coming off on clothes etc. but I tend to only do it on my lower legs. It does say on the tube that it's for 'face and body' - maybe give it a try and 'test' if you get any rub-off before you do it for real?

Loserinlove · 20/06/2021 13:45

Ok what colour vita body blur would I go for? I’m pale but dark hair?

@cheeseisnice you saw fair, do you mean pale skin? I don’t know if I should go for the latte or the cafe creams one??

I use Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs. It’s the only one that works for me.

TigsytheTiger · 20/06/2021 17:10

When you fake tan/gradual tan, use some of your normal moisturiser on your knees/feet ankles first and let it sink in, then tan.

Always apply to the main part of your legs first and then use the residue on knees and feet.

This will avoid the darker orange stain on your knees! Good luck Smile

Staywithmemyblood · 20/06/2021 17:18

Would a wee bit green colour corrector on your knees help? I have rosacea and it’s great for covering redness on my face. You can get ones that are smudge, budge and transfer resistant.

Loserinlove · 20/06/2021 17:48

I do all that when fake tanning! I’m just not human! @Staywithmemyblood I haven’t tried that so that’s a good shout thanks although knowing me I will end up with hulk knees

Body shop honey bronze is lovely 😍

FourteenthDoctor · 20/06/2021 17:55

I like st tropez instant body bronzer

dancerdog · 21/06/2021 20:41

I have white white legs that could withstand a nuclear blast. I gave up on fake tanning years ago as I am rubbish at it. Started again yesterday with L'Oreal Sublime Bronze self tanning dry mist.

The instructions say repeat the next day. I know this is a stupid question but - how do I have a bath then? Surely that would just wash off the next application then I'd be doing it every day?
