Box dye v salon colour

I've not coloured my hair since January so lots of white hair mingled in with brown.

Do I go back to box dye or keep my hair appointment next weekend and get a permanent block colour at the salon?

Why do people seem to hate box dyes so much?

I think the salon usually does a better job and you don't end up with 'hot roots' as my DIL calls them! However, I have been using eSalon for around 18 months and the colour is much better than the box dyes you get in Boots etc, even Olia. The roots blend in fairly well for me (light golden blonde which actually has quite a lot of copper tones and pretty much matches my natural colour exactly). Also, eSalon colour doesn't seem as drying. They only have natural looking colours so no good if you are a unicorn!

Knackered my hair with box dyes. Salon colouring so much better. Would never go back to box now.
