Size 16 what do you wear?

I'm 5'8 size 16 with a large belly. I find shopping for clothes so stressful, I used to love dressing up and making an effort before dcs came along and I got bigger. Jeans are the worst. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to shop for jeans that aren't aimed at size 16s with flat stomach? I'm seriously considering getting a load of maternity clothes! Everything I try on fits nicely everywhere else but so tight around my stomach, including floaty dresses which should, by definition, be loose Sad Help!

Go for high-waisted. & Don't even bother shopping on the high street.

JD Williams/Ambrose Wilson/Marisota/Simply be - all have well cut high-waisted jeans with different leg lengths and flattering on the stomach. Brands on site are KIM and Evie, probably others too but those are nice.

I think with jeans you have to try them on. I've had some nice ones from M&S.

Lucy and yak

Topshop (size up to 36 waist) or M&S have been my best bet for jeans in the past 2-3 years. With M&S, the straight leg, slim flare, Carrie skinny and per una tencel flares have all looked nice on me.

I'm 5'9" and a 16/18 depending on the shop and brand.

New look lift and shape line with the two buttons on the waistband, and next lift slim and shape with the two buttons have also been nice. The new look ones come up very high, which I like, but the elastane isn't lasting as long as the topshop and marks ones I have.

Matalan Jolie relaxed jeans or next jeggings

Seconding the poster who said Lucy and Yak, they do more than just dungarees now and I’ve got my eye on most things on their website!
Topshop made my most favourite jeans ever - high waisted and sooooo comfy. Next haven’t been terrible for jeans in the past but haven’t had any for a while.

Tesco contour jeans!! The are literally the best and high waisted!!

Thank you, lots of ideas and places I'd forgotten about!

I found some miracle jeans last year. They are Levis. Can't remember the exact style unfortunately but they have a little bit of stretch in them.

It sounds like I'm exactly the same size/height/shape, and so will be following this thread with interest! As much as I'd love to buy a pair of Mom jeans I couldn't believe how awful they looked on me. In my mind I have tiny boobs and a flat belly circa 1998 but alas, those days are long gone.

These have a generous waist in size 16 and come in petite and tall as well as regular. Worth the £60.

I ordered some bits from Simply Be in the end. Three pairs of jeans and a few dresses, the jeans all fit really well! Particularly the Chloe jeans :-) love them! Thank you for the suggestions.

I literally live in these. They keep their shape and are so comfortable. I have lots of colours

Ah so pleased you found some nice things! I have a lovely dress from Simply Be.

We are very similar height and size. I'm an hourglass but like you, have always had a belly, which got worse with DCs and a C-section.

I've just bought a big, A-line type skirt from Kemi Telford. Not sure if it will be the most flattering thing on me as my legs are one of my better features and it's not very form fitting on the legs. But it's soooooo pretty and I love the designer.

I wear straight leg jeans. I don't own anything else, (except an ancient pair of skinnies which I keep only for the depths of winter when I need to wear long boots over jeans to keep out the cold and damp). I've tried bootcut jeans again recently, but they really make my tummy look awful. Great on the legs and bum, but it doesn't make up for the ghastly belly to crotch region Blush. I'm a 16/18 and I have one pair of 16 jeans and another pair of 18s. The 18s are to wear with things where my tummy shows a bit. They're a bit big on the legs, but I turn them up and they look a bit like gf / bf jeans.

I also wear a lot of midi wrap dresses and midi shirt dresses with tie belts. Despite me liking my legs, I rarely wear short skirts as, being on the taller side, it doesn't look good on me, except sometimes with opaque tights.

Sometimes I buy big floaty shirt dresses or t-shirt dresses and add a belt, which also looks good I think.
