Tights with sandals

I have attempted to gently and carefully tan my legs and have instead ended up with red spots. I have a do later this year where my untanned legs will be on show so it looks like I will need tights.

I have seen some that are kind of toeless (from what I can see there is a bit that does between your big and other toes like flip flops?) and I was hoping someone could advise on some decent ones? I'm a size 18 so they will need to be big.

Thanks in advance!

(In a separate note if anyone can tell me a cheap, easy to apply pale tan that will last a few days and not stain anything that would be great too!)

Don’t do tights with sandals it’s a shocking look op.

Skinny tan is good or why not just one that washes off? Plenty on the market,

delilabell · 19/06/2021 15:04

Snag tights for footless tights maybe?

petitdonkey · 19/06/2021 15:06

Isle of paradise tanning water is brilliant and hard to mess up, I get the palest shade.
Another option is vita liberata body blur- it’s a make up so tans and covers any imperfections. I’m very pale and it works well on me and has never come off on clothing.

I have tried the type of tights you mentioned but unless your sandals are really thick, they always show!!

Try the vita liberata!

Sally Hansen airbrush legs

As PP said, try a wash off tan. Rimmel sun shimmer is cheap and does a good job.

The toeless tights work better with peep toes shoes than actual sandals- if the heels are exposed they look quite obvious. Also they make your feet slide around so if they’re not quite firmly held in place by shoe rather than strap it can be quite difficult to walk.

Pinkcadillac · 19/06/2021 15:44

Can't you wear shoes with your dress?

ArabeI · 19/06/2021 15:45

What sort of sandals are they?

I've, personally, only worn tights with enclosed sandals, toes and heels, when the weather is colder.

Fake tan; i use it all summer on my legs, have done for years, here's a few tips.

I use a gradual tan one. ie white cream that goes brown after a couple of hours.

Shave and exfoliate your legs. (quick go over with one of those spongy shower gel things will do)
Lightly mositurise your knees and your ankles, let that soak in.
Get a pair of those thin vinyl gloves on (they sell a box of them in the pound shop).
Get your tan cream and rub it on/in like a moisturiser. Rub it right in. It's easy to keep going over your shins, but do put plenty on your calves Grin
Don't go too mad behind your knees and go very sparingly (last bit on the gloves) down over your heel tendon, top of foot, ankle bone area.

Colour will appear after 2/3 hours. Don't shower for a good few hours.
If it's not dark enough then reapply the next day without the exfoliating.

I use a cheapy fake tan and i put it on once about once a week during main summer months. Takes no time.

Have a go now OP and you'll be a dab hand by the time the do comes around.

Unless i'm abroad my legs stay milky white for some reason even though my arms and face tan ok Confused

If it's later on in the year, it might be too cool for sandals? Also, your legs will have recovered by then. Anyway, M&S have very fine denier tights with no seam at the toe.

saltncheese · 19/06/2021 20:38

I'm not keen on my legs, they bruise easily and haven't aged well.
I tend to wear maxi dresses in the summer, takes all the stress out of it!

@dancemom

Sally Hansen airbrush legs
This. With a tanning mitt. Please, please, please don’t wear tights with sandals.
Eleoura · 19/06/2021 20:49

Primark do toe-less tights, but I've only worn them with peep-toe shoes. Can you post a pic of the sandals, because tights would normally look dreadful with them. Why can't you wear kitten heels, flats or shoes you can wear tights with?

goose1964 · 19/06/2021 20:54

What's wrong with pale legs?

ArabeI · 19/06/2021 23:16

I agree, goose. I like my pale legs.

Binglebong · 22/06/2021 00:55

I'm sorry for not replying sooner- real life got in the way. I do appreciate your help though. To answer a few questions:

Attached are the shoes. I'm hesitant to post them as they will not be s&b approved but I have a non existent budget and they work with the dress. I need a solid heel for uneven ground but not totally flat- my options are limited.

Nothing wrong with pale legs, i quite like them in face. Unfortunately only parts of my legs are an attractive corpse like gray, the remainder are slightly blue, peculiar red or covered in a thrilling mix of bruises and spider veins. Not quite the look I'm trying to achieve.

I'm going to be away for a few days before the event so I will need a fake tan that lasts at least a week. I won't have the time to do it on the day (or the day before). Any recommendations with that in mind?

Thanks again for taking the time to help.

M&S 5 denier Bare Invisible tights.

cherrypiepie · 23/06/2021 08:12

Why don't you got to a salon and have spray tan just on your legs?

Would be good prep/nice treat m for a holiday and an event?

My arms face and décolleté are nice and tanned but legs are still white (well brown on the front abs white on the back) so I would also just need my legs doing

I use bondi sands gradual tan and I used it two days abs came out lovely. No prep just slapped it in.
