Black tie event - help me find a dress

Hi all, I need your collective wisdom. Reason I'm asking is because I never go to these events and live in jeans and t-shirts or p.t stuff.

Awkwardly I've been put forward for an award for the work that I do in improving my industry just doing my job and it involves a black tie event covid permitting in October and need a dress to wear. I've been told I can get away with below the knee but black tie means to the floor for me.

H & W I'm 5'5 and weigh 11st 7lb. Am a UK12. I run x 3 per week and keep check on calories so unlikely to change.

Oh dark hair and eyes (if that makes a difference) and I probably need a strong colour because pastels wash me out.

Please help me I have no idea!

No suggestions sorry but just wanted to say you can definitely wear a cocktail dress for black tie, it's only white tie that requires full length (although it's perfectly acceptable for black tie as well of course).

In that case might do that. I have a wedding that's due in the next couple of years, was hoping I could use one dress for both 🤣 skinflint that I am!
