I embraced the white three months ago

Three months ago I created a thread (below) to seek opinions about going grey. I also started the Curly Girl Method at the same time.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/4213031-Should-I-embrace-white-hair-at-47

There were some helpful comments and I took them on board.

I wasn't sure when I started if I'd get highlights or a full grey grow out. In fact, I got some highlights to blend and regretted it.

Well it turns out I love my white and I just wanted to thank you all and post to encourage others.

I'm planning on regular trims and hope to be all grown out in 9 months. I am so excited and loving this journey.

Here are a couple of progress pics.

Amazing! You are channelling Elsa in pic 3.

Zooxanthellae · 18/06/2021 15:17

That looks amazing. I like my white hair but yours looks better, I can't wait to go full white.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/06/2021 17:31

Looks gorgeous. Is the plait thing a headband or your hair?

GeidiPrimes · 18/06/2021 19:28

Your hair looks beautiful OP.

Someone I know has just embraced their grey and they look amazing too. I've been inspired to ditch the dye, but only a smattering so far. Was hoping for a mallen (?) streak, but probably unlikely.

ofwarren · 18/06/2021 19:38

Your natural hair is just stunning! 😍

Silverparting · 18/06/2021 22:08

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Sadly, the plait is a hairband to try to blend my silver with the blorange.

There's also another benefit. I don't know if it's the lack of dyeing or Curly Girl Method (or both) but I had a scalp condition for 15 years that I couldn't manage. I haven't been able to wear black or other block colours as the flakes were so bad. It's cleared up! Clearly my hair is very happy!

Go you!
I just wish my hair would bloody well get on with it and go properly grey or white.... Hmm
Yours looks great.

CallMeNutribullet · 18/06/2021 22:13

The hairband looks great!

Looking great. Im destined to be salt and pepper for the next 30+ years if my mum is anything to go by. Very jealous of your lovely white.

Silverparting · 19/06/2021 00:46

Thanks all (off to look up white trainers!) Grin

Looks great! I'm at the end of my grombre journey now and have had lots of wobbles along the way. But I've had so many positive comments too which has kept me going. I won't say I love the colour yet, it's still a shock when I see myself in the mirror as in my mind I'm still brunette but it's in fabulous condition and so soft!

ElGuardiandenoche · 19/06/2021 01:19

Looks absolutely fabulous @Silverparting.

Anordinarymum · 19/06/2021 01:28

I'm also embracing the white and slowly getting rid of the dyed part bit by bit. Like you I started using the curly girl method too so my hair is in better condition. It's knowing how to style it that I am finding difficult, but am quite enjoying the experience.

Silverparting · 19/06/2021 09:54

It really is a learning curve. I never really looked after my hair before. I tortured it with fortnightly dye and straightners every day. I only have fine hair too. I play around a lot with hair accessories and scarves.

I took an inch off myself. When I went to the salon at the start of this, their negativity put me off going until I reach an advanced stage (obviously I will find a different stylist!).

Looks great. Well done you. Tbf though you are blessed with nice coloured hair. It's a very nice colour, white rather than grey. Some peoples grey is patchy or not quite so pleasant because the spectrum of grey is vast.

Silverparting · 19/06/2021 22:13

Thanks, I have been going grey since 19, so it's had a long time to turn white.
Although I still have some dark brown here and there which I hadn't seen in years!
