Could I wear these trainers to work?

I work as an ICU pharmacist in a big busy hospital and we have to wear smart clothes to work. So I usually wear a shirt dress or black cigarette style trousers and a smart shirt/blouse. I currently wear loafers or wedge style shoes but after a long day on my feet they are absolutely killing me! I'm trying to look for smart style trainers that I might get away with at work (my boos is v strict and she has sent staff home in the past for wearing patterned trousers). I wondered about these in the photo. Any opinions? If not any ideas for smart black trainers that look like shoes from a distance would be great thanks.

(Here I go again!)

I have these but in the silver suede. They are amazingly comfortable and the slight wedge makes a difference.

They feel like Skechers.

@StCharlotte no link...

@MakeMineALarge1 hi! I wore scrubs when our red ICU was open and bloody loved them! It was like wearing my PJs in work. Our red ICU is closed (but prob not for long 😭) so I'm back in my work clothes.

I’d go for a loafer. Carvela do a ‘comfort’ range - how about these?

I wear black Nike Air Max 90....totally black and super comfy. I found sketchers didn't support my ankle enough.

@Bluntness100 you're right. My boss is a PITA.

I swear by these and no one has ever noticed they are trainers Smile

@StCharlotte I can't see a link, but to be fair I've had a few cocktails so that may be the problem 😆

Yes I would say perfect for work
I'm NHS doctor and wear black trousers in winter with smart trainers such as those and in summer I wear cream slim trousers/dresses with white leather trainers
I bought a similar pair from Calvin Klein today to add to my armoury of work trainers
I demote them to shopping/pub then to dog walking when they start to look less smart

imstilljenny2 · 18/06/2021 21:20

@StCharlotte they're nice. Like them. The reviews look good too.

They still look very trainer like I'm afraid.

HalzTangz · 19/06/2021 00:19

Would it not be better to show the picture to your boss and if if they can be worn for work.

I suspect it will be the white soles rather than the fact they are trainers will be the deal breaker

newnortherner111 · 19/06/2021 09:55

£120 for trainers- no thanks.

Hope some of the other suggestions work.

imstilljenny2 · 19/06/2021 10:41

@newnortherner111 I pay around £100 for my white Veja trainers so while these ones are expensive I would buy them if I thought they would work. I don't think they will so I'll check out the other suggestions.

I think it’s the big white sole on those trainers OP that would make it a no from how strict you’ve said your boss is.
Maybe try and find some all black ones, maybe a slip on style like this www.vans.co.uk/shop/en-gb/vans-gb/leather-classic-slip-on-shoes-8f8onq

I know they’re not the prettiest but it seems like a good compromise between a trainer for comfort and a smarter shoe

Your boss is a tyrant!!! What you wear on your feet will make absolutely NO difference to how you do your job. The shoes you’ve posted are fab - I wear similar to work (as a teacher). No one tells me off like a naughty schoolgirl.
MaloInAnAppleTree · 19/06/2021 10:50

I have the fit flop rallys in another colour. To my mind they’re hideous in black but they are really comfy for a full day on your feet, and I can’t see how your boss could object.

RudeAF · 19/06/2021 10:50

I wear all black Adidas gazelles for work running around a busy clinic. I would be fuming if a colleague was sent home for something so daft when we are all constantly chasing our tails as it is!
