Any recommendations please for a mid length waterproof but not heavy or hot coat for dog walking on days like today! My lightweight anorak has not cut the mustard this morning & I’m soaked to the skin!😂

I have one from joules that packs into a bag-looks nice and is waterproof! They don’t do my exact one anymore, but do others. I think called Golightly?

imstilljenny2 · 19/06/2021 19:49

Protected Species are amazing. Stylish and 100% waterproof but unfortunately £££ Protected Species

TenBobNote · 19/06/2021 19:54

I walk my dogs 3 times a day. I don’t wear a coat during summer months. I wear trousers with lots of pockets for dog treats, poo bags, balls, my phone. I wear a body warmer during spring and autumn and have waterproof coat, over trousers and waterproof boots for winter.

FindMeInTheSunshine · 19/06/2021 20:12

I've just bought an Emily Parka from Lighthouse. I've not worn it yet, but supposed to be properly waterproof and it is lightweight. It seems good so far, although you might want to size up if you want it a bit loose.

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/06/2021 21:26

Try Didriksons DH and DSis have the winter versions which are really warm and dry plus loads of pockets.
I ordered the lightweight one from sportmore but went for a longer rains one because I preferred it but it would be ideal for dog walking.

Protected species

Bluebird1234 · 20/06/2021 08:19

Seasalt dry point coat is waterproof and light

bodenbeaut · 20/06/2021 08:47

Protected species always get mentioned but I bought a few (at great cost!!) and find them really frumpy and tight fitting. Why do they get raved about? The material they use is really strange looking up close too

Postdatedpandemic · 20/06/2021 09:22

I have a snowboarding shell. Loads of pockets and underarm zips.

Fferny1 · 20/06/2021 09:23

I have a Protected species tour in khaki and I love it. It's very light, unlike all my other rain jackets and is also very windproof and surprisingly warm. I bought it when it was reduced, but yes they are expensive. And I'm really not keen on the shorter bomber type styles.

thedevilinablackdress · 20/06/2021 09:26

I wear a Rains DK coat at this time of year.

tiredanddangerous · 20/06/2021 09:32

I have one of these www.next.co.uk/style/st555757/264349#264349

It's longer on me than it is on the model (I'm 5ft 6) and has kept me dry in the rain so far.

Tig33 · 20/06/2021 09:42

I agree about protected species bodenbeaut. I keep reading the rave reviews and they sound like exactly what I am looking for. First ordered about four years ago - such odd material and the colours where weird (ordered two) and what I think are very old fashioned / dates styling like the metal toggles on the cords. I get emails from them and they said they were new and improved so I ordered again and again returned. I have a dirikson winter coat which is fab so will have a look at the lightweight ones. Also have a supposedly water proof light weight one from fat face which is anything but so would not recommend that!

HuaShan · 20/06/2021 10:34

I have one of these www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-blocktech-hooded-coat-424579.html
Really light and very waterproof.

Nyancat · 20/06/2021 14:52

I've a rains raincoat at the minute www.asos.com/rains/rains-long-waterproof-jacket-in-green/prd/14618220?colourwayid=16630626&SearchQuery=raincoat. It's out of stock on asos but should be about in lots of other places - really lightweight, waterproof and not sweaty

missmoon · 20/06/2021 15:14

Second the Uniqlo blocktech coat. Good quality and quite stylish (but affordable).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/06/2021 15:23

I haven't got a dog but...Joules I've got a previous season's version of this, but this print is nicer than mine!

StCharlotte · 20/06/2021 15:31

What's their sizing like? I really fancy one but I can't tell if their XL will fit an 18/20.
RandomMess · 20/06/2021 16:13

I got one like this in their outlet shop and it seems great

I got a bargain Didrikson coat in TK Maxx a couple of summers ago. Quite long but a nice shape and the hood is amazing ( very important! ) Only downside is that it’s black so a bit boring. Also have a shorter, lightweight Patagonia jacket again with an excellent hood and totally waterproof. It even has zips under the arm pits to let in a bit of air! Grin

BluebellCockleshell123 · 21/06/2021 15:53

I’ve got the Uniqlo one too. Lightweight & waterproof and it has been admired by strangers.

Sickoffamilydrama · 23/06/2021 20:08

I'm a 16 on bottom 14 on top, i've got this longer one and it would say it's roomy it's a Large. I'm 5ft8 be warned the sleeves are long. I'm happy with that as I have long arms but if you are shorter that might annoy you.
