Any tips for nicer legs?

I recently bought a full length mirror for the first time and OMG could not believe the state of my legs!!

I am 35, 5'6, 9st 10. I was extremely skinny when I was a young girl but now I have this awful skinny-fat, scrawny, saggy cellulite thing going on. I truly hate it.

My legs are definitely the worst part. My calves are huge, 15 inches wide :( My knees are saggy and gross. The cellulite is just dreadful on my thighs.

Part of me thinks it's a genetic thing as my Mum's family all suffered what they called "fat" legs.

Argh, I hate feeling like this. Is there anything I can do to make them look better? I'd love to wear some shorts in the warm weather. Any advice welcome.

My experience is that leg shape is largely genetic. Maybe try some Sally Hansen leg make up and focus on the parts of your figure that you feel positive about.

Do you mean your calf is 15ins in circumference? That’s fairly normal. If they’re 15ins wide then you need to see your GP, it’s not normal to have calves that are over a foot wide.

Sorry but LOL OP, do you work out?

Fake tan!!

Also you are probably just focusing on them but other people won't scrutinise them

I have always been self conscious of my legs as they're very veiny, but now that I'm 41 I don't really give a shit and finally get my legs out!!

I do find fake tan helps massively tho

Your legs are fine. Honestly. You thought they were before the mirror, the mirror is making you over focus on your legs.

Nearly Everyone has cellulite. All shapes and sizes. Young and old. It's part of how women's bodies and fat cells are arranged.

If you want to, fake tan. But wear the shorts. Let your legs loose.

A variety of squats helps a lot if your knees can take it. A few reps 3-4 times a week definitely helps with tone.

Buy a shorter mirror Wink

Squats with weights.

Haha yes, I do mean circumference!! Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight. Well, I'm glad you say it's fairly normal, but I still don't like them.

That's a really kind perspective and you've made me feel better. Thank you

Agreed that squats will make them far shapelier.

Resistance bands or free-weight are brilliant (and you don't need to do as many reps)
