M&S Bras- weird band sizing?

Does anyone else find their band sizes odd? I've been buying bras online for a long time and am tired of returning them! (I notice a lot of their reviews talk about sizing.)

I am just under a 30 inch band and my proper sizing ( Bra Intervention etc) is a 30 D or 30DD. I often go up to a 32D for comfort, depending on the style.

In M&S the actual band measurement for a 32 (unstretched) is 23 inches! That means it need to stretch by 8 inches and when it does, it's really tight.

I know they still advise sizing by 'adding extra inches' so I'm wondering if this is why?

GorgeousDays thanks for the warning. I'm finding it a nightmare shopping online for bras!

They seem to be sized the same as other retailers in the U.K. eg supermarkets, bravissimo, the defunct Debenhams (my lingerie shop of choice alas no more)

They add 4 inches on I think to compensate for the fact that they don't do large cup sizes. My 13 year old measures 30 inches but needs a 34 in marks.

I gave up with m&s bras years ago as The fit is never right - or it will be fine for a couple of wears and then the back stretches and there is no support. I use bravissimo almost exclusively now - more expensive but they fit so much better, and as such I get much more wear out of them - and they actually stock my back size (28-30). I'm a 28G so m&s just doesn't cater for my size.

I love M&S bras but I have to go in and try them on
