Adult braces

I've always put off having braces - as a teenager, I was told I'd need to have jaw surgery and wear a head brace and possibly have extractions and that it all still might not work.
Now I've decided to see what the options are and have an appointment with an orthodontist in a few weeks.
Has anyone got braces as an adult and what was your experience like? I have crowding top and bottom and also quite a big overjet. Also still have some issues with my jaw but really don't want to have to have surgery so hoping there's another route. To be honest if I could at least straighten my top teeth at the front I would be happy!

Can I ask how much you’re paying for invisalign? I’m in the south and have been quoted £4,500 which seems a lot but don’t know if costs have gone up from when a friend had it done a couple of years ago.

I went for ordinary metal braces in the end which were £3000.
My friend had Invisalign light and that was also £3k so I'm not sure if full Invisalign would have been more.

I started on invisalign a month ago and I'm paying £4500, plus another £500 for the retainer at the end. I believe the price has recently shot up. My brother had the same last year and paid £3500, my friend the year before for 3k.

@whytheygetworse Oh wow! What an absolutely fantastic result - your smile looks amazing!

So I had my lower set fitted two days ago and the top tightened and the pain is so hard to bare. The top set were no problem, the bottom set have given me sores and my jaw aches and my head hurts.

Seeing your results gives me hope and motivation!

Sorry to hear you've been in pain! I had my top and bottom fitted on the same day which maybe gets the worst pain over with at once?? I did find the first adjustment really sore but after that there wasn't as much movement so it wasn't as sore if that makes sense! It'll all be worth it in the end.
