Me and em.

So I am trying to stop making purchases that are cheap and then come out looking like rags. I know that paying more for an item doesn't necessarily equate to better quality. I really like the clothes on the website and the prices are akin to Reiss but I am very disappointed with quality of Reiss clothing and just wondered if anyone had any experience of this brand.

This is my style and wondering if anyone can find something similar if Me and Em are not worth it.

Me and Em is excellent quality

ironmanreadyalmostnotquite · 14/06/2021 11:10

That's encouraging news. Any purchases you would recommend?

It’s really popular with fashion editors but I don’t get it.

Morag72 · 14/06/2021 11:13

They’re doing a sample sale at Chelsea town hall on the 23rd June !

Floisme · 14/06/2021 11:21

Nice suit! It's a few years since I bought from Me and Em but everything wore and washed really well. I think they're also quite clever at working out which trends to pick up on so (aside perhaps from the frilly sleeves) their clothes look contemporary but they don't all instantly date. They used to use quite a lot of viscose and polyester but I've noticed more cotton / cotton jersey too in their newer collections.

My only reservation is that I haven't bought from them recently and quite a number of other brands I used to rate have gone downhill in the last few years.

ironmanreadyalmostnotquite · 14/06/2021 11:22

I've bought this. So will see what the quality is like in a few days. If I like this brand what other ones might I like?

I think Me + Em are v expensive for what they are.
I bought black wool trousers in Jan & I have to say the style was great, barrel leg but I didn't think the quality was all that great.
They were v thin material & v creased when they arrived. Packaging was disappointing too for the price

Do they ever have sales? I like a couple of dresses but they're €300 for a day dress which is a bit steep I think

ironmanreadyalmostnotquite · 14/06/2021 11:24

There is a sale section but sadly nothing I like is in there. Apart from these.

I buy quite a bit from them, including lots from the current range, no issues at all with quality, it's always excellent.

ShrikeAttack · 14/06/2021 12:11

(And I'm a fussy bugger).

Ilovewillow · 14/06/2021 12:24

One of my favourites although I tend to buy in the sale as it is very expensive. They last well and are very plain which I like.

EmmaStone · 14/06/2021 12:30

I've not bought from them recently (priced out of their market now, but also don't tend to need the types of clothes they sell - I work in a very casual environment), but it used to be one of my go tos, the quality was always excellent, and I'm still wearing many things bought several years ago, looks as good as new. I always bought in the sale, but noticed it was getting harder to find the bargains, I guess as it's a better known brand now.

EmmaStone · 14/06/2021 12:31

Oh, and my go to now tends to be Cos, they use great fabrics, have very clever cuts (my colleague, my friend and I all have the same dress, we all have very different shapes, and I think it suits us all), good value, and amazing sales.

I think that's exactly it. They are plain and I'm very much minimalistic in my clothes.

That's good to know. I'll have a look at Cos too. Thank you.

I love this brand - it might be expensive but the pieces could have cost twice that, the quality is so good. The fabrics and finishings are beautiful. I have several pairs of trousers, a couple of dresse and some of the blouses for work

lonelySam · 14/06/2021 15:54

I bought stuff from them in sales, quality and fit are very good.

EllaPaella · 14/06/2021 17:29

I really love the jumper you have ordered @ironmanreadyalmostnotquite. Please come back and let us know what the quality is like when it arrives as I'm very tempted by that myself.

Anyoneforcoffee · 14/06/2021 17:38

Generally I have found them good quality. That said I think Joseph have a similar feel and are better quality often- and can have good sales.

Geamhradh · 14/06/2021 17:44

They're good.
Palazzo pants are excellent quality. I live in mine. Paid £69 for them but they have paid for themselves.

Yes I like the look of them too
