How to use a nail whitening pencil.

Loved the idea of a whitening pencil, bought the Mavala one and its rubbish. I've tried wetting it but it only goes on the skin above my nail, am I using it wrong?

Is it one of the one's that actually just go underneath the nail tip to whiten that bit?

Yes, but it doesn't work.

Watching with interest as I can never get them to work either!

I couldn’t find one of these so ended up using a white eyeliner pencil. Doesn’t really last very long but ok for temporary emergency mani.

I do the tip of my nail and paint over it with a French manicure varnish.

Do you mean on top of the nail rather than under it?

I've never had a good result either. Would love to know how to do it properly.

Yes, on top of the nail. You have to paint over it straight away though it it will wash/wear off

The Rimmel pencil used to be my favourite and they stopped producing it. So I tried a few and this one is my go to - www.wilko.com/essence-french-manicure-tip-pencil/p/0511962?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhrzZg-6Z8QIVmO7tCh016AiCEAQYASABEgJyZ_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds It does work under the nail and I will certainly try the top tip to see how it performs.

I've got the essence one. It's very subtle, and I would prefer something stronger. I think there are probably better ones out there.

No, @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously sounds fine and we've all got our favourites. I miss the Rimmel version and find that warming the pencil and apply after washing hands gets the best results.
