Bright linen dress/jacket

Is it possible to buy a longish loose linen dress/jacket in a nice colour? What shops might have that kind of thing in? It’s for a friend who’s quite self conscious about her weight (mostly middle) but wants to look lovely at a wedding. Probably doesn’t HAVE to be linen but a natural fabric for sure. We’d both really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you! Flowers

Seasalt has some dresses which fit those requirements. www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/clothing/dresses-tunics

Floraday do linen dresses

FoxgloveSummers · 13/06/2021 15:25

thank you @Magpiecomplex - any other suggestions for styles that might suit someone self-conscious about a tummy?

Can it be patterned?

bookish83 · 13/06/2021 20:04

H&M have linen and natural fibres. As does Arket

However it depends on the height and shape of your friend to what she would suit!

There’s some lovely bright dresses in Toast, in natural fabrics - best to go to one of their shops and try on, if she can: www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses

Yes @Procrastatron she’s pretty open minded as long as it’s not too depressing looking as apparently a lot of linen things only come in black or other “sad” colours.

Point taken @bookish83 she’s about 5’5 early 60s probably a 16-18 with most of her weight in the middle. She’s quite well groomed and regal though! I’m wondering if one of the plainer shift dresses and say a really nice jacket or coat might look good.

I was at a wedding yesterday where a guest wore this suit.
They looked amazing.

NellietheNumpty · 13/06/2021 20:39

They were 6 foot in heels a proportioned larger size.

Beebumble2 · 13/06/2021 22:39

Woolovers are doing linen dresses and have money off.

Beebumble2 · 13/06/2021 22:42

Meant to add, bright colours and forgiving styles.

How about a one hundred stars duster coat over a shift dress? Not linen but very lightweight

Boden have loads of linen dresses or jumpsuits in bright colours and patterns. Some would work better than others if she is self conscious about her middle. They also have lots of other cotton dresses that might work.
