Closed toe shoes for summer dresses

Hi,

I have a few midi type dresses to wear to work (usually wear trousers) but am not allowed open toe. It’s too hot for tights/boots, what can I put on my feet?

I had the birkenstock mules when I was a florist (not allowed open toes either) if you like that sort if thing. Otherwise there are a lot of pointy toed mules about or flat ballet style pointy flats with that french cut vamp?
I suppose the almond toed wedges a la K Middy are a bit old hat now but could you get away with a wedge espadrille - but quite casual, not very worky?

If I worked away from home these would be my choice.

Standrewsschool · 12/06/2021 21:55

shoe 1

shoe 2
I’ve got this in more than one colour

shoe 3

Any of these any good?

Buttton · 12/06/2021 21:58

How about M&S woven sandals? Come in a few colours and would be good with dresses and let the air to your feet too?

MaloInAnAppleTree · 12/06/2021 22:00

I used to wear shoes very similar to StAndrews’ Clark’s Shoe 3 when I worked in an office with a no toes, no shoulders dress code but didn’t want to wear tights on hot days. Not the most fashion forward of choices, but fits the bill.

Totallydefeated · 12/06/2021 22:03

These are pretty but also worky and will be fairly airy for the summer.

Zooforhouse · 12/06/2021 22:32

I LOVE the Russel and Bromley ones, and the M&S and Boden ones too but not sure if I can get away with it (front line healthcare), but will be studying other peoples feet to see!

I’m not good with a heel unfortunately 😂

Thanks for suggestions

What about these? Also, try googling Madewell Flat Cecilia on Zalando. I can't seem to link it from the app.

MsJuniper · 12/06/2021 23:23

I have been looking for a similar type of shoe. Thinking of getting these www.next.co.uk/style/st311915/910983#910983 from Next although they do look a bit like children's shoes.

MsJuniper · 12/06/2021 23:26

I wanted these but they don't have them in my size. I'm guessing they wouldn't be amazing quality but I liked the shape.

I have a fair few Fly London closed toe shoes for summer. Most with a wedgey heel but some quite low.

Verbena87 · 12/06/2021 23:35

We have the same rule and surface-of-the-sun inspired working temperatures and I’m in these www.lottafromstockholm.co.uk/clogs/low-wood-in-black-on-brown-base.html

They are platform rather than a high heel - on my feet all day and a dedicated wearer of Sensible Shoes and they’re great.

Mildmanneredmum · 21/06/2021 17:25

How about some smart navy leather sneakers? I got some from LK Bennett and wore them every single day to work. Sole Bliss do them as well - not cheap but they look smart and are super comfortable.

LadyofMisrule · 21/06/2021 18:18

I’ve also bought smart white leather trainers for my return to the office. I went for some classic Gola ones. My fashionable teenage daughter does not approve; I couldn’t care less.

Bertiebiscuit · 21/06/2021 19:39

M and S used to do lovely flat closed toe sandals in gorgeous colours - I had a pale rose pink pair I wore till they broke - I can't go on the tube in open toe sandals, men are always treading on your feet, but I've seen nothing as good for several years now - a bit like salt water sandals but with strips of leather covering the front of your foot 😭😭

These are on my list to buy when the weather gets cooler again!

I have the higher heel version in their open toe shoe and can confirm they are v comfy.

jules0607 · 21/06/2021 20:57

Search for slip on fabric trainers - everyone does them, generally have decent arch support, see sketchers for examples & they’re machine washable

Emlh · 21/06/2021 23:14

Will’s has just launched these and they have a closed back version too. Very ethical and their shoes always get good reviews.

Acrackineverything · 22/06/2021 01:59

@ Bertiebiscuit - I have those M&S sandals in khaki, most comfortable sandals ever! They were my holiday sandals, haven't had any use for them lately Hmm Wish they'd being them back.

Waferbiscuit · 22/06/2021 08:22

OP these are what you need. Clarks, comfortable, cover both your heel and toes but airy. Look professional.
