Will a spray tan help?

So I have largeish patches of flat purple veins on my lower legs, also patches of redness.
I rarely show my legs, sometimes wear three quarter linen trousers in the summer.

I’ve a couple of weddings this summer and really don’t want to have to wear tights, am menopausal and heat and nylon are not a good mix!

So will a spray tan improve the appearance of the veins or accentuate them more?

I'm pale and had a bad experience with a spray tan. I'd never have another- but that's my storyGrin
I'd recommend Rimmel Sun Shimmer instant tan (you can also get the matte finish). Great coverage and you can see the colour on application. Waterproof so won't sweat-off either.

CheerfulBunny · 12/06/2021 13:53

It might but you won't know until after and you can't remove it easily if you don't like it. I'd agree with what @Spied said. I use the Rimmel stuff- just make sure you wash your hands well after! I've heard excellent things about the Sally Hansen leg spray so maybe have a look at that too.
I have the same problem as you. I look at people's golden limbs and wonder why mine are hewn from corned beef Sad

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 12/06/2021 13:58

It does for me. Have one now (a light one) and see what you think. I always have one for special occasions- makes me feel much more comfortable wearing certain outfits- doing it yourself is never as even.

I really rate the dove visible glow one in fair to medium. Gives colour without lasting forever

BrilliantBetty · 12/06/2021 14:10

Yes it will help. Won't hide everything.

There's also tan stuff you can buy purposely to cover 'imperfection'.

I used it 5 years ago when I had some marks on my legs. It worked really well though I wouldn't want it on a large area, it's a bit like make up! Just a little on lower leg area would be fine.

The Sally Hansen leg spray is great depending on your skin tone - I’m quite pale so even the lightest one is probably a bit too dark for me, and I’m not sure what the shade range is like for darker skin tones either.
If one is a decent colour for you though it really covers marks and veins well and doesn’t shift without soap.

It really will help, if you go somewhere good (check online especially if they have before and after pictures), and ask for it to be light. If you don't feel brave enough for that, I can't recommend Sally Henson leg spray enough...it will look like you have flawless legs!! It is a million times better than sun shimmer...again, go for the lighter shade. It only works for your legs though...but the light one should still look good even if you don't tan the rest of you. If you decide you want to do it yourself full body...I would use fake-bake 60 minute express tan with a mitt. Use all over and wash off after an hour or two...do this two days before the wedding and be careful applying on hands, feet, elbows and knees...light coverage in these spots. You can even use it on your face. Then on the morning of the wedding put some Sally Henson on your legs and you will look amazing!!

There's a product that I think is called legs veil by vita liberata my friend swears by it .

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 12/06/2021 14:13

Dove or St Ives gradual tanner. Moisturizer with a bit of tanner in it.

Good scrub before and massage it in really well. Then another application the next day. Good for a week or so
I do this all summer long

Daisypaisy · 12/06/2021 14:14

spied haha, sounds like my self tan disasters! I was looking at the Rimmel stuff last week and wondered about it. It sounds like low commitment which is def what I need! Grin

Cheerfulbunny I’m the same, I’d love to have lovely tanned legs Sad

Naturalblond I may book in and give it a try. It would have to be a really light one as I’m pale and anything remotely dark will look daft! Then there is the make up to consider also, I’m so rubbish at this stuff 😬

Longhairdontcare38 thanks for the tip, might be worth using as a long term thing. How accurate do you need to be please, I’d be worried about streaking!

Sally Hansen legs. It’s make-up for the legs and covers any blemishes.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 12/06/2021 14:18

Ive been using the Dove body lotion with the self tan in it. Just takes the edge off the whiteness and has made some marks on my legs look less stark. I don't want to camouflage but just a little improvement is great. Also more foolproof than self tanning!

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 12/06/2021 18:40

@Daisypaisy I’m super pale too but the light spray tans look good. In fact, it makes me annoyed that I can’t just catch a little bit of a tan naturally.

cornfleurbleu · 12/06/2021 18:58

A gradual tan, real tan, spray tan or sally hansen leg spray will all definitely help conceal veins, stretchmarks etc. Are they thread veins? The Sk:n clinic does thread vein removal.

LongHairDontCare38 · 13/06/2021 07:21

Im pretty slapdash & looks ace. Deffo use a fake tan mitt

Daisypaisy · 13/06/2021 20:37

Thanks all! I found some vita liberata tanning wipes last night, they were probably a freebie with something I bought. Tried them and colour is quite orange, and not nearly enough coverage of the veins.

Have ordered the Sally Hansen airbrush legs in the lightest colour so hopefully that will be ok Smile
