Sandals for teenager

DD is 15. She's considered by her friends to be very stylish which baffles me, but I accept I'm not 15 so let her get on with it. Usual outfits are either massive tracksuits and trainers, low waist jeans or combats with crop tops to show her belly button piercing (for those of a certain age it's All Saints all over again) or minuscule dresses.

However everything is worn with trainers, usually big black airforce.

She went on a date last night in a lovely (if tiny) pale summer dress with big black boot like trainers!
Having lunch today she realised that her ankles and feet are white while her legs are brown. I suggested (gasp) sandals.

She was horrified.

Apparently "no one wears sandals."
Can this be true? Do all teenage girls have sweaty trainer feet all summer?

If anyone's fashionable teen has summer footwear that isn't insta t social death could you let me know what they are?

Dd was 15 in March. She usually wears dr martens or Air Force 1’s. She wanted dr marten sandals but thought she might not wear them so brought a similar style from Bershka for about £40. She has worn them loads so today we ordered the dr marten ones she really wanted.
She wears Nike sliders or havaiana flip flops on holiday but would never wear them at home unless in the garden.
However her friends all wear flip flop style sandal from places like primark or new look. Also converse.

One of mine wears sandals, timberland ones currently, sensible ones, the other refuses to show her toes

Sliders are soooooo comfortable. Like slippers for the daytime. Adore.

Am 40s and should not like them probably but DD is too young to be embarrassed of me

Kesparent · 12/06/2021 23:32

Mine has just asked me to buy her some espadrille wedges which I did. ( usually found in air forces or Ugg’s)

DDs 15 and 16. Sandals are not in. Trainers or sliders. DD1 has a pair of lime green crocs too.

A fashionable friend who is in the fashion business states Tevas are selling like hot cakes!

@Stonelovelace

My teens wear teva’s and sliders. Can’t imagaine my 15 year saying she’s going on a dateConfused. But I’m from a different culture (assume you’re British/European)
Tevas look lovely and comfy. Thinking of ordering myself a pair!

The date thing is very new. Lad picked her up and they went to the cinema. He bought the tickets she bought the snacks.

Her outfit took 3 girls 4 evenings to decide on. He turned up in sports shorts and a slightly grubby T-shirt. Apparently he looked cool though?

However I had a boyfriend at 15 as well and few of her friends do. Is this weird? Are the British consisted a bit easy? 🤣
