Please help me avoid sunburn with a nice white shirt

I bought a shirt from Monsoon a few years ago but it got stained and I stupidly threw it away before replacing it.

It was white, loose, and a light cotton with a subtle check in it, really nice and soft and perfect to throw in a beach or tote bag as a bit of sun protection on a hot day.

I also bought something similar but a bit more embroidered and pretty for DD, now outgrown.

I had a quick look online but I don't know where to start. I'm effectively after a pseudo husbands-shirt-i-nick to cover my arms and shoulders, but aniceone which is mine so he doesn't try to nick it back. Also his shirts are all a bit stiff and ironed for my liking.

Anyone seen anything like this recently? I want plain so I can throw it on over anything.

While I'm here actually, I haven't had a summer jacket for about a decade, anyone got any nice suggestions? I quite fancy a bomber jacker style but anything which would suit a busty 40 yr old welcome. My style is generally vaguely retro/rock/vintage but I'm open to ideas.

My favourite white throw on top is really soft cotton one from Fatface. It's more a blouse than man style though.

M&S have got a couple of really nice cotton jackets in a range of colours.

The MV one is polyester - would be stifling on a hot day.

Lots of cotton shirts at H&M.

I have a really light white shirt from h&m that I wear in the sun to stop me from burning.

I have a proper linen shirt from Seasalt. I sized up and it is huge. I take it to the beach or wear it after the beach whilst sitting on the balcony enjoying a drink before dressing for dinner.

I also have a white 100% cotton night shirt from Matalan that does the same job. In fact it is softer and therefore better for sun parched skin.

As for summer jackets I am a sucker for a khaki shaket. Mine is ancient from Top Shop.

I've got a previous season's version of this khaki jacket, and love it.
