Return to office and work shoes

Is anyone else struggling with shoes following a period of wfh/furlough?

Had a day back in the office yesterday and couldn't walk in my first two pairs of work shoes I tried on. Ended up in ballet flats!

I think I may have to transition to more sensible shoes although at 5"2 and a bit overweight this isn't ideal!

Any recommendations for stylish flats?

My ballet flats rubbed my feet raw last week fist time back in them.
I’ve just bought some new white trainers and sandals to keep clean and wear for “smart” and have given up on shoes entirely.

I'm in the same position, going back to the office soon and dreading finding some shoes to wear. My feet are flat and useless at the best of times and I've been living barefoot and big honky running trainers. I'm keeping an eye out for smartish black shoes on Fitflop. Others on here have recommended Vionics and Camper too.
I have some very comfortable brown leather Fitflops and will wear those if all else fails.

It's fine to wear flats

I have some v comfy loafer / moccasin types that are smart

I also like chelsea boots for comfort and a cas feel but smart enough

Our office is professional but smart casual dress

Thanks for your responses.

Glad it's not just me!

Wish I could wear trainers to work but then I don't think I'd be very good at keeping white ones clean!

I've decided to go back in neat trainers (rather than my usual very high heels), I'm getting all my trousers turned up to make sure they look neat with flats.

I'm not as at least once a week I wear work shoes, so as not to wear out others too quickly!

Would you wear loafers? They’re pretty comfortable. I wore them when I went back to work after ten years of SAHM trainers.
