Factor 50 for my face that won't give me spots

balzamico · 11/06/2021 11:46

I have had several treatments to my face for potentially pre- cancerous cells so it is vital I protect my very fair skin from the sun.
I love to be outdoors and a hat is not always practical but if I wear sun cream for more than a couple of days I always come out in spots.
I've used Most of the main brands plus sunsense tinted balm (which weirdly also stings the skin under my eyebrows).
Tia for any recommendations

I use Biore Watery Essence or Bioderma Photoderm Max Aquafluid (comes in clear or tinted). Both SPF 50. The Bioderma is in Boots.

I've worn SPF 50 on my face and neck every day for fifteen years.

steelseries · 11/06/2021 11:50

I use the Heliocare oil free gel SPF50. It's always recommended by dermatologists and I haven't had any problems with it. Works well as a make up base too.

Kjr33 · 11/06/2021 11:50

Biore watery essence for me, I have heard good things about altruist and evy mousse too but decided to stick with what works for me

PawsQueen · 11/06/2021 11:50

One thing to make sure is you're removing it really really well so double cleanse if you don't already! I like these

Factor 50 for my face that won't give me spots

Another fan of Biore here but am weaning myself off as don't like having to buy from overseas and worry about fakes.

La Roche Posay have recently launched something v similar (but more expensive). Am getting on with it well so far. Is factor 30 though: www.laroche-posay.co.uk/en_GB/hyalu-b5-aquagel-spf30/LRPUK-148.html

I also liked this: www.laroche-posay.co.uk/en_GB/anthelios-age-protect-spf50/LRPUK-149.html

I've had two small skin cancers so take a lot of care now.

Oddbutnotodd · 11/06/2021 12:18

La Roche Posay do a SPF 50 facial spray which is very light. You can use it over make up- it’s called
Invisible anti-shine facial mist.

Monsteraobliqua · 11/06/2021 12:19

Thank you farmer light essence spf 50 is the one!!

minipie · 11/06/2021 12:21

I have long term acne and am using the La Roche Posay Anthelios one - it doesn’t seem to make the acne worse.

Pancakeflipper · 11/06/2021 12:24

Due to leukaemia I have to be really careful and I'm struggling with the balance of skincare needs and SPF50.

I've just got Tropics Sunday (they do a small size) for my face and it doesn't feel heavy, really light and so far no negative skin reaction. .

I also use Rosalique which has SPF50 and tints so I don't need any other make-up (working at home slobbiness).

Sonofabiscuit · 11/06/2021 12:47

I've got combination skin that decides to be sensitive at random times .
I've started using Nivea sun ,UV face ,anti age & anti pigment Q10
And so far skin has been good ,no breakouts .

JemIsMyNameNooneElseIsTheSame · 11/06/2021 12:49

Heliocare tinted fluid is good. V.lightweight.

ElderMillennial · 11/06/2021 22:28

Ultra Sun

Fashio · 11/06/2021 22:32

Glossier

BendyBusBuggy · 11/06/2021 22:50

Second ultrasun

TaylorStan · 11/06/2021 22:51

I use the Roche Posay spf 50. It's the one for ultra sensitive skin. Makeup goes on well over it too

LesRosiers · 11/06/2021 22:54

Hmm Ultrasun is the only one that does give me spots (and I don't get spots)! Thank You Farmer and Biore are my favourites, along with LRP Anthelios.

augustusglupe · 11/06/2021 22:59

Dermalogica dynamic skin recovery spf 50.
12 years ago I had a bcc removed from my cheek, just beside my nose.
I've used it ever since. I find dermalogica products really suit my skin

Suasthuasanuas · 11/06/2021 23:01

Third Ultrasun

Latte40 · 11/06/2021 23:04

Cera ve moisturiser with SPF 30 is the only one that doesn't cause me to breakout and I have tried pretty much every suncream brand!

chestnutmares · 11/06/2021 23:06

Dermalogica Solar Defence Booster SPF 50 is your friend. I'm v fair skinned and had a BCC a few years ago. This stuff is great and you don't need much, love it!

ScrambledSmegs · 11/06/2021 23:47

The new LRP anti age factor 50. The lightweight fluid one makes me break out (think it's the silicone) but this one, despite seeming more like a face has been amazing. It does contain niacinamide which my skin tolerates very well, I love it.

Spaceash · 11/06/2021 23:53

Eucerin factor 50, oil control is great for me, most spfs irritate my skin but this has been fine and doesn't make my skin feel greasy.

Maremaremare · 11/06/2021 23:54

Heliocare Gel Oil Free (there are lots of different types of Heliocare, make sure you get this one) - it's fab!

DoThePropeller · 11/06/2021 23:59

Took me ages but finally found one, Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. It’s really good under make up, very light and oil free.

WhereAreWeNow · 12/06/2021 17:38

I really like all the French pharmacy brand sunscreens but my favourite is Vichy 3-in-1 mattifying sunscreen. It's spf50 and it actually seems to improve my spot prone skin rather than aggravate it. It doesn't irritate my eyes either which is another bonus.
