Long basic T-shirts for tall women

For the last few years I’ve had awful trouble trying to find T-shirts long enough for me (5ft8) and that don’t cling to my tummy. I’m a size 14 and tall and everything seems to stop at my midriff. But this year I have found some and I wanted to share!

I prefer cotton and found these basics in Zara that are long enough and 100% cotton

And these in M&S - not cotton but a lovely fabric that washes well and hangs nicely.

M&S also have some longline cotton ones but not with v neck. I did get a couple of men’s cotton v necks T-shirts too - they were lovely fabric and long enough but the neck wasn’t low enough for me. It’s a shame they don’t make women’s T-shirts out of the same fabric.

Hope this helps someone!

Ooh thanks for this, I’m 5’8” too and long torso rather than long legged and I always struggle to find clothes that fit well. I’ll have a look at those xx

Sorry not a link to the right colour but search the New Look website and you can find it.

Do not recommend the Dorothy Perkins tall t shirts, they shrink heavily in the wash.

Has anyone seen a nice navy one?

Passthecake30 · 10/06/2021 07:16

I’m 6ft and currently living in next cap sleeve tshirts, I think I have multiples in all the colours that suit me!

Ooh thank you, following, I'm also long in the body!

I'm starting a new job soon and need smart tops for work, has anyone seen any long ones of those?

The ones linked above from M+S have them in navy too. I’ve got about 4 different variations - I’m small but curvy and have bought a size bigger so I can wear them over leggings more like a tunic.
Laska2Meryls · 10/06/2021 07:27

I often buy the longline tees and vest tops from Long Tall Sally

Onelittlepiglet · 10/06/2021 07:47

@Soontobe60 yes me too - They are really nice and crucially don’t shrink in the wash!

@Thinnerlikeachickendinner the navy one is really nice! I think they have black, navy, white and have grey in a separate listing. They also do a striped one which is the same style/fabric and also lovely. I have them all….

Thanks for all the other recommendations for tops - I will check them out too. Glad to know I’ve not been alone in my struggle for basic tops that are long enough!

I’m 5’11” and long bodied and the Next ones above are long enough on me. Good value too.

Not sure how smart your work is, but I have this shirt from boden which is lovely and long and I think smart enough for work. www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/evie-linen-shirt-ivory-polka-dot/sty-w0753-ivo

More expensive but fantastic quality Poetry seem a good bet

Boood · 10/06/2021 12:25

I’m not tall but I like enough length in my tshirts to be able to tuck them in, and I like the Next cap sleeved ones as well.

@Onelittlepiglet that's lovely, thank you for the tip!
