Dressing gowns - not white or pastel coloured?

Why are lots of the summer thinner style cotton dressing gowns always white or pastel coloured?

Within 10 minutes I’d have sticky handprints all over me.

Where can I find a cotton dressing gown that is dark blue, dark red or black in a fairly simple pattern that doesn’t clash horrendously with my PJs?

I aspire to look stylish and co-ordinated wafting through my kitchen but that will never happen.

Any advice appreciated - thank you.

From the men's section at the supermarket. That's what I buy.

autumnboys · 10/06/2021 06:42

Seasalt Pottering Gown. I got mine with a discount code. It doesn’t go with my PJs, but I’ve got past that now.

La Redoute have some beautiful blue ones.

I got a really lovely one from Wallance Cotton. So many bright prints it was hard to choose. They also have a plain teal coloured one that I am coveting.

No PJ trousers for me in summer, just vest and pants so that removes the clashing PJS issue.

Agree with Seasalt Pottering gown. Lovely textured cotton, washes beautifully.

I have a plain black one from asda but it's ancient.

Sainsbury's had some cotton darker colours last week

Very Kerry. Love mine. Expensive, but it makes me happy every time I put it on.

Cyber jammies. I have mine on now and it’s heaven on my skin.

happylittlevegemites · 10/06/2021 07:01

I’m wearing a cyberjammies one right now. Blue with flowers.

I love the look and colour of some suggestions but would like 100% cotton to avoid feeling sweaty. I’m assuming the viscose ones would feel sweaty - maybe they wouldn’t - any experience of sweat levels? I could be converted. Thank you

I've got one from 100 stars - it wasn't cheap but it is lovely!

Dilbertian · 10/06/2021 07:59

I love my Lands End dressing gown. Cotton jersey, but it is so smooth it feels almost satiny. I think they call it Supima cotton. Mine is a solid, bright colour. I got it a couple of sizes too big because I like a swishy, generous dressing gown.

Quitelikeacatslife · 10/06/2021 08:11

I've got a Boden Jamie dressing gown in turquoise paisley, it's really lovely to wear.

I have a Victoria’s Secret 100% cotton dressing gown in a very dark purple, more of a berry colour. It’s brilliant quality, never too hot and takes a while to look dirty Grin

Oysho.

One Hundred Stars. They're beautiful. I bought one of their kimonos at Kew Gardens a couple of years ago and fell in love with their stuff. I now have a dressing gown and I love it so much I could wear it everywhere.

The patterns are gorgeous and the cut is fantastic. It hangs really beautifully.

I've been looking at these grey and black washed linen gowns in H&M https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0107727062.html] for similar reasons.

rockyIV · 12/06/2021 20:35

I have this one in black but it also comes in charcoal I think? It's unisex but the S/M is a perfect fit on me, oversized enough but not swampy. I'm a uk 10 usually but had a baby 7 weeks ago...
