How long do you spend on your personal grooming (I don't mean day to day makeup but all the other stuff) and is this the key to looking good?

I give myself a pedicure weekly. I shave legs weekly and apply moisturiser everyday all over. Face yoga and rollers every few days. I do a leave in Conditioner every few days for my hair. Eyebrows get threaded monthly. Gel nails monthly too. Hair done every 2/3 months.

I use mid range products.

I dont know what it adds up to but I think I’m low maintenance.

Finallygrowingup · 07/06/2021 23:02

I do feel and look more groomed after a bit of self pampering. But over lockdown I feel like I havent bothered at all. I dont even moisturise right now. Tbh my skin was lpoking and feeling a lot better but I have also noticed lines. When people say they moisturise all over daily - do you do it day or eve?

PrimeraVez · 08/06/2021 09:58

Mani pedi, upper lip waxing and eyebrow threading every two weeks

'Proper' skin care routine (double cleanse, tone, serum, mask, blah blah) maybe 5 days out of 7 a week (more if I've been wearing makeup)

Shave legs, underarms and bikini line maybe three times a week? I live in a hot country so regularly show a lot of skin - if I was in the UK, this would be a lot less!

Wash my hair around 3 times a week, tend to do a deep conditioning mask at the end of the weekend if we've been doing a lot of swimming

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/06/2021 10:56

As standard I do:

"Proper" skincare routine morning and night, and always put on body lotion after showering in the morning
Hair washed and dried daily - it's a short blunt bob and looks bonkers after I have slept on it
Pedicure once a week - even in winter I like to have painted toenails!
Paint fingernails twice a week
Eyebrow wax every three weeks
Hair cut every five weeks

Stuff like shaving I do every couple of days in the summer, but in winter that drops down to weekly for legs/bikini line. I occasionally stick some gradual tan on my legs, but I am fairly dark skinned for a white person so they don't tend to ever look really pale.

If I've slept well and woken early enough, it's a soft water bath, with essential oils (changing each time). and hair wash using no sulphate shampoo and a camomile leave in rinse (it gives a lovely natural shine. ) I do a body rub first and stretching pilates style exercises.

if I haven't slept well then a 'pits and bits' wash in softened water, oh and always I do the exercises with oil pulling (usually with almond oil and tea tree oil) before cleaning my teeth. (that makes a huge difference to the look and health of my teeth) I pluck my eyebrows more often tha round my mouth (with the masks it's not so essential Grin I'm very fair skinned.

Tryingtogetitright · 08/06/2021 21:01

What are the exercises with your teeth ppeatfruit? I'm intrigued!

I shower and wash my hair every other evening - shave legs and armpits while I'm in there. Pedicure at home every couple of weeks (or just paint over any chips if I'm in a rush!)

I do feel better on the mornings after a shower and feel like it's easier to look good on those days than the ones in between!

I have a good skincare routine. For.me my skin is most important as I have a toddler so hair is usually in a bun or half up half down
Bathe every night
I cream everywhere before bed and special cream for hands and feet

Seesawmummadaw · 09/06/2021 08:39

I’m really rubbish and want to do more but I do a face mask and hair mask once a week, shave 1-2 times a week depending on what I’m wearing, have my eyebrows waxed and tinted every 2 months, hair cut and coloured every 2 months.
Exfoliate face and body around twice a week and give myself a mini manicure (no polish just a tidy) once a month.
I try to only wash my hair two or three times a week.
Moisturise daily.

limesoda · 09/06/2021 11:22

Nails and brows every two weeks
Nightly and morning skincare routine
Dry body brushing most days before getting in the shower
Face and hair mask once a week ish
30 minutes exercise a day, even if all I can muster is a dog walk

My mental health and self confidence has skyrocketed since starting this all. I really do think there has been a positive change to my overall appearance, but I'm not sure which is the cause and which is the effect.

WokeFest · 09/06/2021 14:00

A lot of women find it hard to fit in time to groom. What I find helps is having a bucket. Hear me out now Grin I have a pink small bucket that I put things in e.g. nail products and/or face cream. After dinner I go upstairs and wash my face or get a shower and put on my PJ’s then I come down and watch TV around 8.30/9pm. I also go to bed a bit early and watch TV in bed whilst my DH watches the news and on my bedside I have foot cream, cuticle oil that I put on in bed.

ppeatfruit · 10/06/2021 08:35

Tryingtogetit. Well I follow the Complete System of Self Healing by dr. Stephen T Chang, it gives do it yourself acupuncture exes. (no needles!) you just press on the specific meridian lines e.g. around your mouth for your gum and teeth health. The oil pulling is recent and it works really well too.

The other exes. are incredible for all other parts of your body too.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 10/06/2021 08:43

Brows, nails and top lip fortnightly.
Hair cut and coloured every 6 weeks
Full skin care routine twice a day
Home facial weekly
Salon facial monthly (now that we can again!)
Body lotion daily / gradual tan in summer
Exfoliate body every other day, ditto hair removal
Hair washed every three days or more frequently if been hot and bothered.
Exercise 5 times a week
Make up and perfume every day

ppeatfruit · 10/06/2021 09:10

I find that a solid night's sleep is one of the BEST beauty aids Grin that and a really healthy diet.

I always remember it's the food you put inside your body not so much the stuff on the outside that matters!

Atalune · 11/06/2021 08:08

@YellowandGreenToBeSeen what do you do for a home facial?
