Amazing work outfit

Hello,
Looking for style advice for my dsis. She has recently been promoted at her work to a very very senior role in a multinational blue chip company. It's a role that there are not many women in and she is also young for the role regardless being in her mid 30's as opposed to mid 40's
She will have some professional photos taken in two weeks for an advert in the newspapers and she is looking for the perfect outfit that is professional but not staid and doesn't make her look older that she is.
Budget is up to £1000

If anyone has some websites or ideas that would be great.

With that brief, I'd be looking at The Fold, some beautiful dresses, suits and separates

thefoldlondon.com/product-category/shop-by-style/dresses/

The Melrose dress, Sudbury, Elland or Waverley are all varying degrees of formal with a modern twist

Also some gorgeous jackets, the Kimono jacket or Dovercourt are lovely and have a bit more going on than the standard pseudo men's suit type you often get

Wishing her good luck

Defiantly41 · 06/06/2021 17:20

If she'd like something bespoke I can 100% recommend www.distinctivelyme.com - have a look on Instagram to see some of their work

Also a John Lewis Personal stylist, some possibles from Helen McAlinden (some of their dresses are a bit mother of the bride, but eg the Tuxedo one is nice) Theory for example, Ralph Lauren but the stylist will know the stock better

Toohardtofindaproperusername · 06/06/2021 17:24

What's her body type and style because otherwise that is very little info for people.to go on.
Height size shape. Current style .. desired look .... etc.
Hope she is excited about the new role

TheWayOfTheWorld · 06/06/2021 17:24

I just came on to say The Fold as well, some lovely pieces.

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 06/06/2021 17:25

The Fold, The Fold, The Fold. Credible and senior without being boring or frumpy.

callmemaybee · 06/06/2021 18:43

Honestly with that budget I would go to a personal shopper, Selfridges perhaps

MaybeWeShouldGoToEastbourne · 06/06/2021 18:52

I’d say Reiss over The Fold. Though either way I’d go for a cream silk shirt and well tailored navy ankle grazing trousers with suede court shoes.

MaybeWeShouldGoToEastbourne · 06/06/2021 18:53

Oh and I’d put some of the budget aside for hair and make-up to be done professionally.

Great suggestion. Hair and makeup will be the focal point of the photos.

Disagree. Unfortunately so much Reiss is not cheap and poorly made. The Fold clothing is beautiful and if she's in London they have a shop.
MaybeWeShouldGoToEastbourne · 06/06/2021 20:56

Ooh Winser London is another option!

MrsRockAndRoll · 06/06/2021 20:59

Great tip!

MsFogi · 06/06/2021 21:21

The Fold, Libby of London, Winser - only issue with the Fold is they are a bit recognisable as The Fold (and risk of others wearing the same) depending on the circles your diss works in.

Anyoneforcoffee · 06/06/2021 21:33

Agree with the Fold and Libby London. Also Joseph and if she is in London try Madeleine Hamilton on Chancery Lane- good website too. Also Cefinn can be excellent.

Crazycrazylady · 06/06/2021 21:55

Great tips here. She's tall and very slim

Stupidly I didn't name change so am forwarding the images on one by one !

Love the fold. I don't have her budget so can't shop there for me but there seem to be beautiful pieces.

The kooples have some good tailoring.

FionaMacCool · 06/06/2021 22:21

OP is she in Dublin?
could/ would she book a personal shopper in Arnotts/BTs?

Some of the Helen McAlinden stuff might work; some is a bit mother-of-the-bride.

www.arnotts.ie/women/irish-designers/helen-mcalinden/beau-mist-dress/1000242258.html?cgid=shop-by-department-women-trends-irish-designers
I've never tried Roisin Linnane:

Joseph in BT's - there were some nice pieces there at the weekend, though that brand is not online.

I'd still get a delivery of The Fold for comparison- the photos will be around for a while, and worthwhile spending a bit to get it right.
Plus, get someone in to do hair and makeup that morning; bit like a wedding, have a trial the week beforehand.

FionaMacCool · 06/06/2021 22:27

LK Bennett- another brand that could get a delivery to her. www.lkbennett.com/Workwear

Or, for beautiful fit & fabric: Louise Kennedywww.louisekennedy.com/products/rhea-blouse-navy/

MoltonSilver · 06/06/2021 22:41

I'm pretty sure that Arnotts are now stocking a small selection from The Fold.

MoltonSilver · 06/06/2021 22:46

Scrap that, sorry. It's John Lewis, not Arnotts.

Rina66 · 07/06/2021 06:26

I think that's a really good point about having a blow dry and professional make up. I'm sure she's got a favourite work outfit that always makes her feel good, she should go for a similar look. I don't know how you feel about getting her colours done, mine were done 30 years ago and they were spot on, the colours suggested really do light me up. I don't religiously stick to it, but I should!

NotMeNoNo · 07/06/2021 07:28

If she's that senior and public facing a style/colour consultation would be an investment. They go through business dressing, how to project authority without looking stuffy, etc. e.g. here house of Colour

All the suggestions here are great but it would help pick out what suits her colouring/figure/personality and then you have it for ever.

Crazycrazylady · 07/06/2021 11:05

That's a great suggestion re her colours. She is a bit of a clothes horse but I don't think has ever gotten her colours done. The rest of the family could get it for her as a gft. Arnotts personal shopper is a good idea too..
