Jeans similar to Next Relaxed Skinny

A few years ago I bought a pair of Relaxed Skinny jeans from Next. They are by far the most comfortable and flattering jeans I own.

When I tried to get some additional pairs of Relaxed Skinny jeans, the style had an awful "distressed" look on one of the thighs. At first glance it looked like bird poop or a fault in the material, so I left it.

Now the only Relaxed Skinny jeans I can see on the Next website are maternity.

I know I'm probably way behind the times yearning for this style of jeans, but what style/shape should I look for that might replicate Next's Relaxed Skinny?

Ideally 99% cotton, 1% elastane or lycra (but I realise this high cotton content is becoming as rare as hens' teeth).

If you like a dark rinse you could buy the distressed ones and put them through a dylon (indigo) jeans all-in-one machine dye. Very simple to do if you're willing to risk the cost of the jeans. Every area will be darker than before but the lighter bits will still be lighter than the darkest bits IYSWIM. I do it when I'm bored with worn out jeans.

Thanks @MenaiMna, but unfortunately they don't even sell the distressed ones any more.

I have the Jolie relaxed skinny from Matalan and they're lovely and comfy

JesskerM · 06/06/2021 16:25

Missed the 99% cotton bit, sorry! They're around 60% I think

Next Relaxed Skinny are my favourites too. They are just not the same now. I’ve picked up my last couple of pairs on eBay. H&M Regular Ankle Girlfriends are also good - 99% cotton.

SkepticalCat · 06/06/2021 16:49

Thanks @JesskerM those Matalan ones do look good. I might give them a try. What's the sizing like?

@Foxglove40 there was a pair on ebay in my size last week, but I forgot to bid before the auction ended. I might set up an alert so I'll know if any others come up. I'll take a look at Next's Regular Ankle Girlfriend.

I also bought those Next jeans and returned them! Such a strange thing to have that one white distressed patch.

Noapplejustcrumble · 06/06/2021 19:56

There are still some available on the clearance section of the Next website

PurpleDaisies · 06/06/2021 19:58

M and S lily jeans aren’t as high cotton content but I think the fit will be similar.

I'm wondering if they discontinued the jeans on the basis of poor sales/high returns because of that darned weird distressed patch.

I'll take a look at the clearance section and think about dying them as a previous poster suggested.

Thank you - I'll take a look.

The sizing was spot on for me, which is unusual for Matalan!
