I've decided this is the only self tan I get in with so will continue to use for now but any tips to get best coverage and application???

You need to use the glove/ mitt

Yeah glove and black Mitt they recommend long strokes. I copied what I saw on YouTube as I've never had a decent application. The Bondi Sands aero mousse is amazing I put it on overnight and showered next day and it came out lovely.
