Can anyone recommend a fool proof gradual tan that doesn't smell awful please?

I'm sure this question has been asked on here recently and the answer seemed to be that there wasn't one that didn't smell and was gradual! Happy to be corrected though, as I'd love to know if there was one too.

JackieTheFart · 04/06/2021 15:25

Not possible. Bondi Sands gradual oil spray tan is pretty good, not as strong smelling but does still smell.

I like The Body Shop honey bronze range - it’s make up rather than fake tan, but the leg mist has a bit of a stain to it so it doesn’t wash off in the rain.

It’s the only product I use as I can’t bear the smell of fake tan.

alwaysinpjs · 04/06/2021 15:51

It's the worst smell isn't it!? You'd think a large brand would have developed something by now...

Isle of paradise tanning drops

mackerie · 04/06/2021 15:57

I bought the st. tropez gradual in-shower tan, after many, many promises it didn't smell.
and it stinks.
Just in case you're lied to too! It's also not very good.

TortoiseShed · 04/06/2021 16:00

It does stink, but tbh, the fact it gives my pasty skin a reasonably even tan which stays on for a week, is nothing short of a miracle to me!

I think there are some which don't smell now which aren't gradual. Haven't tried yet, as I tend to get spray tans.

littlepeas · 04/06/2021 16:20

They all smell - every single one.

😂 have tried this too. Thought it was great until I realised only my ankles had changed colour and not evenly!

I used Bondi Sands this morning... yes I smell like a slightly stale biscuit now.. when will it wear off?!?!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/06/2021 16:38

You need a DHA free product. I think superdrug do one.

imsanehonest · 04/06/2021 18:40

Palmers Coco butter gradual tan. Doesn't streak either. I swear by it.

JackieTheFart · 04/06/2021 19:20

God I hated the Palmers one and I’m usually a devotee of their products!

NameChange74567 · 04/06/2021 21:05

I love the skinny tan gradual tanner

needagirlsnight · 04/06/2021 21:35

Isle of paradise has no smell, the tanning drops that you mix into your moisturiser

YellowTree1 · 04/06/2021 21:40

The newest Dove one smells much better than the old one, I quite like it

It absolutely does. They all do.
Tomatel · 04/06/2021 23:09

I have recently bought St Tropez Purity bronzing water face mist. It has a smell but definitely not the horrible smell you mean. It's quite a pleasant, light and fresh fragrance. It's a very fine, mist spray and super quick and easy. I just give my face four or five squooshes and it dries in seconds. Very subtle healthy looking boost as opposed to full on Trump!

needagirlsnight · 05/06/2021 14:49

@JackieTheFart I have every fake tan going in my drawer and isle of paradise I can never smell - haven't tried it on my whole body just face but IMO it doesn't smell.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 05/06/2021 17:41

I bought the St Tropez watermelon cream based on this thread. I've never used any kind of fake tan before and it came out patchy as hell. Is there some trick to making sure you get even coverage? I used a mitt.

VanGoghsDog · 05/06/2021 17:47

The Deciem oil one is DHA free.

Premier12 · 05/06/2021 17:52

St Moriz. Not one hint of biscuit, and isn't greasy. Isn't patchy or streaky but seems to fade patchy so needs scrubbing off sooner than others

Nohomemadecandles · 05/06/2021 18:00

The smell is the reaction rather than the products, I think.
The Dove one smells less because it is very, very, very gradual! Grin

VanCleefArpels · 05/06/2021 18:13

Superdrug own brand in a pink tube is excellent - only the barest whiff of biscuit. I also find that putting it on after a morning shower as opposed to at night helps make any smell far less noticeable

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/06/2021 19:32

I use the St Tropez gradual one (not the shower one). I really like it and don't notice any smell at all. It does come off on the sheets though!

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 05/06/2021 23:27

Clarins drops are good, you put them in your normal body lotion. You tan quite slowly, as in you need to use it every day for a few days, but it's very even and doesn't smell much, maybe a little bit as it starts to develop.

The worst one I've tried was Skinny Tan coconut water, it's really hard to see where you've put it so it was so patchy and a really bad orange colour.
