Is this ok for a wedding guest?

Small wedding (14 guests) is in less than 2 weeks. I bought this dress thinking it'll be ok but I've just tried it on again and I'm worried it's now too casual for a wedding. Also the shoes I thought would go don't.
Is it too casual? Any suggestions on shoes please

Unless it's a black tie wedding I don't think it's too casual. I often find some people can look overly trussed up in their formal frocks at weddings. No idea why Joules have styled it with those boots (!) but once you find some lovely shoes you'll be good to go.

BackforGood · 03/06/2021 15:08

Like most, I think the dress is fine - the sock and boot combo the model is wearing are what make it look more casual - if you had some "going out shoes" and accessorise it then it is totally wedding wearable Smile

Thank you for all your suggestions. I'm liking the wedge idea. What do you think of these?

@helpplease789 yes! I think they'd look great with it

TortoiseShed · 03/06/2021 15:16

I think that dress and the shoes you linked to are absolutely fine for a small wedding where you'll be breastfeeding. I love clothes and try to get it my-version-of-right, and that really is fine. Jewellery and the right bag will help make it look dressier too I think.

waitingforsun · 03/06/2021 15:18

I think this bag would look perfect 🤩

It's on the cusp of being ok. There are some others on Joules's site that look more summer weddingy - could you return and replace?

Moonshine11 · 03/06/2021 15:21

I love the colour!
Great for a wedding, comfortable, have a lovely time

BigPyjamas · 03/06/2021 15:23

I've had my eye on that dress.

I think it looks swishy and perfectly lovely for a small wedding once you add nice shoes and a bag.

Hope you have a great time, so nice to be out celebrating whatever you decide to wear.

But if your dress is the same as this but in different colours, it looks fine when zoomed in. www.joules.com/Women/Clothing/Yasmine/Button-Through-V-Neck-Dress?size=14&id=212804|NAVYSTRAW|14

Those wedges look perfect, I think its a lovely summery outfit.

Thank you. I hadn't even thought about a bag 😂

It looks casual in the photo as the model is wearing it with boots. Once it's properly accessorised it will be lovely.

RuthW · 03/06/2021 15:33

Yes it will look lovely with your fascinator or hat and a buttonhole

I would definitely recommend this dress, it's so comfy and great material so if you're on the fence to buy it I would go for it! It comes up big though so size down! Thank you, I'm really excited, it will be our first outing since before the pandemic.

I do love that yellow dress. I don't think it would suit my pale see through complexion though sadly.

The dress is lovely, absolutely fine. I wouldn't wear with socks and boots though!

applespearslemons · 03/06/2021 16:47

Sounds great. Dress up with nice sandals and accessories and you have an outfit to wear again one day

applespearslemons · 03/06/2021 16:48

Can you change the belt?

Whosaidit · 03/06/2021 16:57

@flyingant

I think the dress looks lovely and is fine for a wedding. I do think that some people make way too much fuss about what is and isn't acceptable for a wedding though.

It is beautiful. Remembering my time breastfeeding I am always incredibly impressed if someone is dressed at all, on time and having remembered the baby is a gold star performance.
Enjoy the day.

Amdone123 · 03/06/2021 17:10

Dress is gorgeous and perfect for a wedding.

Have fun !

shallIswim · 03/06/2021 18:29

Shoes, nice handbag, your best/favourite jewellery and it will be elevated. And a smile of course
Enjoy your day x

God that styling choice in the website photo is bizarre! Those boots don't go at all with the dress. It's a pretty dress mind - I think it's fine for a wedding, you got good styling tips already - but man, they dragged it down Grin
