Can and L&Y wearers give me advice please?

I'm so undecided. I love how they look on other people but just think I'd feel out of my comfort zone. Been looking at the Umi dungarees

I'm quite tall, 5'9", 33" leg and a size 8/10, it if matters!

Hi Op. 5,11 here. I found the cotton ones a touch too short (especially the bib) but the cord ones are perfect. If you use faceache there's a very helpful L+Y official community there

I got carried away imaging how useful dungarees would be, loose, wearable whether I gained or lost weight, etc. But I am quite old and only 5'3. Lucy and Yak delivered yesterday - I look like a giant toddler that's filled its nappy. Back they go. I think they're just too big in every direction, but the style doesn't work for me either.
All the models on their website looked great . .

I’m 5’8” and while I do like my L&Y I find they go right up my crotch. I had to adjust the straps/knots to solve this, so the bib bit sits quite low down on my boobs. And I do find that annoying, it doesn’t look as flattering as when shorter people wear them and the bib does over their boobs/chest area.

Have a good read of the fit description and reviews - I found them really useful and ended up buying a different size than I normally would because of this and they fit perfectly!

I love mine, I'm going to get a second lighter pair - corduroy is not good for summer.

Bloodybridget · 03/06/2021 06:19

Ha, @Lavender201, the bib was almost under my chin when I tried mine on!

Bloodybridget · 03/06/2021 06:20

@waitingforsun from your description of yourself, I think they could look great on you.

I love my cord Umis. I’m a large 10 with smallish boobs and 5’6. I got the regular length and for me they are probably as short in the body as I could go but that’s fine with my smaller chest. I found both my pairs of size 10s stretched on the first wear but then I washed them at 40 and now they are perfect. I wear them with very plain vests and Ts from Uniqlo in just back or white to counteract the toddler look. Based on what you have described I’d go for 8L.

Thanks everyone! I like the look of the maroon colour so as soon as they're in stock I'll order some, and try and 8L first Grin

The Umi ones didn't suit me. I wear the Lunas and they do. The sizing on their web site is good. I'm only 5'4" though

ILoveShula · 03/06/2021 23:59

forgot to add, I usually slightly size up in dungarees so that the bib is bigger but L&Y were fine.
