Anyone bought anything from This Is Unfolded?

Recently came across this company when hunting for some new summer clothes and really liked their eco credentials - they open a 10 piece collection for a limited period of time and then based on the orders they then manufacture the exact quantities needed to avoid excess clothes waste going to landfill.

Prices are reasonable and materials seem good as well - the jumpsuit I've been looking at is a cotton/ linen mix. Before I order I was wondering if anyone had purchased previously and was happy with what they received as I don't want to order something and find it falls apart after one wash and I have to chuck it which defeats the object!

This is ‘Lost Stock’, rebranded isn’t it?

I did that last year, the idea was that you spend £30 and get three items of mid high street level clothes that were going to be binned and help out workers. The reality was 3 current very cheap Matalan items (the bottom of their range in my experience, see through T-shirts worth £5). It wasn’t great.

Maybe they’ve improved.

Ah thanks @4PawsGood I hadn't realised the connection to Lost Stock which iirc was very disappointing. Think I might save my money this time!

This does appear to be true, which is disappointing. The reviews for Lost Stock were horrendous, so I wouldn't touch the new company either.

I’d say probably Zara type quality, everything has washed well although I’ve not worn any of the pieces more than a couple of times. At £65 for a dress, a jumper and a top though it felt like good value and nice to have something loads of other people don’t have!

It’s not going to be the same as lost stock though is it? Lost stock was sending you matalan items (for example) so lost stock had no control over the quality, and the buyer couldn’t choose what they got, whereas these items are going to be made when you’ve chosen them. Sounds much better. Or have I got it wrong?

TwoThirds do the same kind of thing, but have been going longer. I love their stuff.

I don't think it's anything to do with Lost Stock. I haven't ordered but friend did last year and was v happy, she's ordering again this time around.

It’s the same people behind both companies

Itvs the same people as Lost Stock, but a different concept. Lost Stock sent out unsold clothing that had been destined for high street stores. This Is Unfolded make new clothes, but don’t get them made up until they have taken all the orders, so that only the number required are made.

It’s Louise from This is Unfolded here, I just wanted to jump in and give you a wee bit more info about us.

We are indeed the same people who were behind Lost Stock - launched back in May last year specifically to save the billions pounds worth of cancelled stock from heading to landfill and to support the garment workers who had been left unpaid. Lost Stock was always a short term solution and it provided much needed support to 113,000 people in Bangladesh for just over a month each. But, as someone in this thread has already mentioned This is Unfolded is a totally different offering, one where we have total control over the clothes offered

We’ve built This is Unfolded based on the lessons we learnt from Lost Stock and we design our collections in close collaboration with customers - ensuring the quality, design and sizes offered are what they want.

This is Unfolded is a longer term solution to some of the problems inherent in the fashion industry. The high levels of waste and the low levels of garment workers pay.

We reduce waste from the industry. As it stands, 30% of products produced are never sold so we remove that waste by only producing our clothes after we have orders in.

We launched, sold and delivered our first collection a few months ago and you can see from our Trustpilot reviews that we have received nothing but 5* based on good value, amazing quality and lovely designs. We also put together an impact report for Collection 01 which details everything from customer feedback to our returns rate (which we are proud to say is tiny compared to industry average) and the impact generated from each order.

This is Unfolded is similar to Lost Stock in that we want every order to make a difference to someone’s life and that’s why we support children’s education in India and we make sure garment workers are paid better. Collection 01 meant 550 children will be supported in education for an entire year and 278 garment workers received additional payments from us on top of their wages, you can find further details in the report.
