I want some new going out clothes! Anyone else? Come and join me :)

In optimistic hope of lots of pub trips, (probably outdoors!) parties and other jollities this summer, I'm planning on treating myself to a few new things. TBH my 'going out' clothes were already a bit past their best before the last year. I'd love to swap ideas & inspiration with anyone else in the same boat.

So far I've ordered this jumpsuit which I suspect will be very thin, but hoping will be good for hot weather and/or if we ever get back to packed sweaty gigs.

I've got another pretty jumpsuit from before Covid which is the perfect summer-daytime-type pub trip outfit, so that leaves me to find something ideal for cooler evening pub / restaurant outings. Realistically they're likely to be outdoors in the medium term as indoors space is all taken up by pre-booked people eating en famille.

I'm 51, short/small build and mostly wear combats/boots/tops for everyday wear, but I'd love to see everyone's new or prospective going-out outfits regardless of age/style :) :) Or have your suggestions for me!

Okay I am also 51 and have just this minute ordered myself a dress from Sezane to wear out for dinner in London in a couple of weeks’ time. I’m not sure how to link but it’s black, wrap over, midi length, with short sleeves. Am hoping I can put a cream leather biker jacket over it and find some suitable shoes/sandals. Fingers crossed it fits!!

Your sezanne dress sounds great!! I also need some new clothes but am waiting for the sales in maje, Sandro, sezanne etc and have compromised with zara in the meantime xx

FourTurnings · 29/05/2021 13:47

I don’t look much like the model 😀

Zara is always on trend. If I wear something from Zara I get compliments. Sizes are small though, I find.

@FourTurnings I too am 51 and ordered that dress yesterday!

Sadik · 29/05/2021 16:39

That looks fantastic @FourTurnings.

helen wow!! What a coincidence! What excellent taste you have...! I really hope it fits and suits me as I haven’t bought from Sezane before. There were a few of their dresses I liked but I thought that one looked best for an evening outing.

Thanks sadik 😀

I've ordered a top & wrap which I'm hoping will look interesting but be warm enough for summer evenings outdoors. (I think my likely social engagements might be a bit more informal than yours Grin )

Those items look amazing sadik there is no way I could carry either of them off 😊

Sadik · 29/05/2021 21:43

I also don't look like the models Grin TBH I've had a couple of bits of theirs in the past, & tried others on, and in practice their clothing looks much more conventional IRL than you'd think from the styling on the website (but hopefully interesting enough to give an outfit a bit of a lift).

That’s interesting, sometimes I find clothing I buy online looks more edgy (better, basically) than it did on the website; it’s all down to the styling.

Sadik · 30/05/2021 20:09

It's so true - I often find that a more edgy top paired with a conventional bottom half works well for me.

@Sadik
I am loving your style - that jumpsuit is gorgeous and love the hooded wrap and the gilet - reminds me of my clubbing years in the 90s. You are very on trend.

Sadik · 30/05/2021 20:45

Thank you! Mostly I'm in muddy work clothes, so I like to dress up when I get the chance :) (Oh for some loud music and sweaty crowded dancing....)
