Where has maternity clothes in store?

I've just ordered a package from Sainsbury's range, but really didn't like the fit or material once they arrived. The sizing was ridiculously generous even taking bump space into account.
Does anywhere affordable have stock in store? I can't find info on the websites.
Also, any recommendations for jeans? I'm outgrowing my wardrobe and feel frumpy as hell.

I struggle with finding anything in store so order off asos as their free returns are so easy and they have a range of brands. Also helpful reviews so you know if it comes up big/small.

Squiz81 · 26/05/2021 11:55

Not looked for it recently, but H&M normally stock a decent amount in store

CupcakesK · 26/05/2021 11:56

Larger New Look stores seem to and maybe H&M
It's annoying as hardly any stores do, but difficult to order online as sizing varies so much. This was a bugbear of mine during pregnancy, even in pre-covid times

MeadowHay · 26/05/2021 11:56

My fave mat jeans are H&M over bump. I had some Topshop under bump last time too but they never fit properly so got rid and replaced them with a pair of Dorothy Perkins over bump this time. They're ok but also don't fit amazingly, they seem to have gone really loose just after a few washes. So deffo look at H&M for jeans.

Randomly primark have just released a maternity range. Lots of basics mainly and hoodies, maxi dresses etc but obviously there cheap so might be worth taking a look?
Otherwise I found H&M really good, or boohoo

CaptainWentworth · 26/05/2021 12:02

H&M is the only place I’ve ever found that has maternity stuff in store. However I’ve no idea what going on with their sizing these days (S/M/L etc for jeans, no actual sizes!)

In general I found I had to take 1 size down from my normal size with maternity clothes, or else they were just too big all over (apart from at H&M, oddly enough)

Aisforharlot · 26/05/2021 12:10

Thanks!
Looks like a trip to H&M tomorrow.
I hate jeans that go saggy after a wear or wash. And any bottoms that put pressure on the line just under my bump feels weirdly awful.

A big H&M, and Asda

Needingsupportplease · 26/05/2021 14:45

H&M is the only place near me and there over the bump jeans are amazing!

lavenderandwisteria · 26/05/2021 14:46

JoJo does - quite costly though.

BeastOfBODMAS · 26/05/2021 15:15

I am following this with interest as I’ve looked at loads of stuff online but can’t see anything I’d wear. Normally when the current fashions don’t suit me I make do for 6 months and look again. Can’t really do that with maternity so hoping some of these offerings are better in the flesh!

What do people do about sizing for these H&M jeans? I’m a 16 and have 18 H&M trousers that don’t go on! (but L tops and cardis fine). My local store has hideous thumping music (to drive away people my age?) so I’ve never shopped there in person to try on!

goose1964 · 26/05/2021 15:20

I'm not sure where you are but Primark in Bristol had it in-store

Aisforharlot · 29/05/2021 12:34

Update:
Went to local H&M (Watford) and the selection was very poor, both sizes and range.
I picked up a pair of the jeans in XL, which seem ok for later in pregnancy but are too loose right now.

Nothing in primark.

Have ended up ordering Lululemon Align workout leggings, which hopefully will do me postnatal as well and justify the cost!

Generally it’s really poor. I’m in London and even in the Shepherds Bush Westfield, it was shit. Nothing in new look or Next or M&S apart from tights (crap by the way!) and underwear. Same in John Lewis. H&M had some but it was very grey and basic and slubby.

There’s a Seraphine a couple of miles from me and it’s good for something one off but pricey unless there’s a sale.

Overall it’s crap.

Fucking nowhere. Last pregnancy me and mum went shopping specifically for my maternity wardrobe. Couldn't get a damn thing

This time I just shopped online at H&M, new look and JoJo mama. Happy with the clothes so far....for my dungarees on :)
