Summer wedding in a field...what to wear??

In July I'm going to a wedding which is basically in a field...there will be a marquee but it's a field in a friend's farm. The accommodation is tents and it's fair to say it'll probably not be a stilettos sort of affair!

Can anyone help me find some suitably casual dresses (or outfits - I'd look at trousers/jumpsuits as well) that I can wear with flats but that still look "weddingy" and not everyday? Bonus points for shoes as well. Thank you wise Mumsnetters Grin

size/body shape/frame/age?

PalacePalacePalace · 25/05/2021 19:35

Sounds like a great wedding!

I wouldn't go for a jumpsuit. I always struggle getting them on and off for the loo especially after a glass of wine or two. And if it's in a field, what's the toilet situation... it maybe portaloos with wet floors and small space..

But how about this pretty dress?
mango

Chocolateandamaretto · 25/05/2021 19:43

Sorry - am early 30s, tall size 8 with nearly flat chest, if that helps!

I like that dress Palace, I love florals and that's really pretty!

Definitely something boho, try anthrologie, whistles or monsoon. Not that h&m dress, it's black.

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 25/05/2021 19:59

@fruitbrewhaha do you mean the one I posted? It’s yellow and green Confused

I went to a wedding like that years ago. I wore smart trousers, which were perfect, as the meal involved sitting on cushions in the yurt/teepee/tent thing. Then a pretty beaded silk camisole to dress it up a bit, with a pashmina.

It was absolutely freezing, even though it was only the first week of September. There were no heaters and a chilly breeze kept sneaking into the teepee. My strappy top and pashmina were woefully inadequate, but at least I didn’t have blue legs!

It got a bit muddy padding to the portaloos, so I was glad of my (smart but flat) boots.

So I’d say think practically!

Some more dresses...
nobody's child

lemons
never fully dressed
green floral

rixo I love this one but it won't be everyone's taste!

I agree with Venus - think practical. I went to a similar wedding a couple of years ago. I stuck some leggings, cardigan and shawl/pashmina thing in my bag for the evening. Have fun!

Im attending a wedding and I am thinking it may be wet and muddy and also outside so I’ve gone gone for some boots and a dress from Maje.

This with ankle boots?

or this with flats

greymayday · 25/05/2021 21:54

I agree about staying away from jumpsuits - they’re a nightmare to get off for a wee at the best of times, let alone after wine and in a dark portaloo where you’re trying not to move around too much because everything in there is a bit covered in mud... (Can you tell I’m still a bit scarred from that time I wore a jumpsuit to a festival? Grin)

Definitely take something warm to put on your shoulders in the evening - cardigan, wrap, blazer etc depending on what style dress you go for. I always find the cold gets to me more when I’ve already been outside all day.

Sounds like my favourite type of wedding! Smile

Based on my field at the moment - wellies and water proofs but I don't think that is the answer you are looking for Confused

FinallyHere · 26/05/2021 14:40

Thermals & wellies.

Confusedandshaken · 26/05/2021 18:00

I think the Mango dress with trainers or wellies would be perfect. Don't forget the sunscreen.

Some lovely boho dresses here, would be lovely for your occasion.

bigbluebus · 28/05/2021 13:53

Having seen the youngsters around here all dressed up for the Young Farmers Ball, I think you can team up wellies with virtually any dress!
