M&S Perfume Island Escape discontinued

One of my favourite perfumes was M & S Island Escape, it looks like it has been discontinued!

Does anyone know of something similar? Was it based on a more expensive designer brand? It claims top notes of pear and bergamot, with salt sear air and rose petal accords, then driftwood and musk dry down.

I still have a full-ish bottle but prices are already going daft-ish on ebay etc and I'm not overly comfortable buying toiletries and fragrances from there anyway.

Noooo! Just looked and you're right. What a shame and I only have 1/4 of a bottle left. Have you looked in store in case there is any remaining stock?

justaweeone · 25/05/2021 19:22

Which perfume was it based on?

IPokeBadgers · 25/05/2021 19:22

Have been in a couple of stores local to me and not a bottle to be had... Just the Island Sunset version in the purple pink bottle still available.

@justaweeone I don't know if it was based on something else, for a while some of the M&S perfumes seemed to take strong inspiration from designer brands so wondered if this was one of those.

Just trying to work out what might have a similar scent....

Someone told me Avon perfumes are good and produced in the same place once maybe try them

justaweeone · 25/05/2021 19:38

OP just had google, it might be this??
Olympéa Paco Rabanne for women

Huntzberger · 25/05/2021 19:38

I love this one too, got it in a beauty bag a couple of summers ago I think.

Googling says it might be similar to this one: www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Paco-Rabanne/Olympea-31666.html

Might be worth a sniff?

IPokeBadgers · 25/05/2021 19:42

@omgthepain
Haven't had much luck with Avon unfortunately, I actually bought three of their perfumes last year but they just didn't work on me.... Couple of sprays of each and I sent them to the charity shop 😂

Going to have to head to the perfume shop and ask for a spray of Olympéa Paco Rabanne then... See if it's along the right notes... And then save up cos it'll be more expensive than my lovely wee cheapie from Marksies! 😁

Try Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt. Judging by the notes, it's probably the best match.

justaweeone · 25/05/2021 20:04

OP
Markies( haven't heard that in a while, are you Scottish?), if you are ask for a 'wee shoosh'
This is supposed to be a dupe

@missbattleaxe I have had the JM Woods age and seasalt before, it's lovely but I dont think it has the lovely floral notes that are in the middle of Island Escape. But next time I'm somewhere that sells it I will give it another sniff.... What a hardship that will be! 😁

@IPokeBadgers if it is similar to Olympea, get on perfume parlour and buy a bottle of their dupe Wink I have it, and it's lovely

IPokeBadgers · 25/05/2021 20:19

@justaweeone No not Scottish 😉
I'll keep an eye out for that one next time in superdrug 👍

I absolutely LOVE Olympea. Also La Vie Est Belle you may like OP. Don't bother with FM perfumes though, they don't last 5 minutes on me 🙄

MissBattleaxe · 25/05/2021 22:00

La Vie eat Belle is very different from Island Escape. It has a huge caramel note and a ton of patchouli.

tobee · 25/05/2021 22:30

Seem some on eBay but I'm not sure how the prices compare.
