What should I wear... to get married?

I'd love some ideas! Long description below, but a fancy dress that's a bit special but not super formal, for a size 16 with ginger hair?

Long version: I am getting married next month in Denmark, just me and him, no guests or reception afterwards. It will be really informal with a 10 minute legal ceremony only. However, I would like to dress up a bit and have some nice photos taken, which will go some way towards placating his mum as well.... He has a dark grey suit and we can get a shirt for him that matches or doesn't, if that helps.
I don't think pale colours suit me as I have red hair (Lily Cole colour) and similar colouring, although not many freckles. I go red in the face and chest at the drop of a hat, so nothing which clashes or emphasises that. I'm 5ft 6, so long dresses often are too long, and I won't wear big heels, a wedge maybe. I am a size 16 and don't particularly like the top of my arms or my thighs, so anything which disguises them a little would be great...
I like dark colours particularly teal/blue and dark green suits me, but am aware that I dress very boringly, and very casually, so something a bit more special would be nice.
I like this dress: www.asos.com/closet-london-plus/closet-london-plus-wrap-front-pleated-midi-skater-dress-in-navy/prd/23280599?colourwayid=60467065&cid=9579
for the colour and shape, but it might not be formal enough, and might not look that great in photos (also might need something over it as photos will be outside).

I wonder if this is better, a break from my norm but I quite like the colour and it might photograph better... www.asos.com/chi-chi-london/chi-chi-london-high-neck-ombre-maxi-dress-in-blue/prd/14474815?colourwayid=16618994&cid=13934

Or, any other suggestions that you've seen recently?

@AdriannaP do you have first hand knowledge of the Adrianna dresses? Or is your user name a coincidence?

I LOVE the Ghost dress you suggested

AdriannaP · 25/05/2021 22:21

Haha a coincidence. I have bought them before for work events (usually at TK Maxx) and quite like them.

I know you said a dress, but as soon as you described yourself I thought of this silk velvet jumpsuit from Nancy Mac - it would look fabulous with wedge shoes and your gorgeous red hair

Thank you to everyone, you've given me lots of exploring to do as so many of these are beautiful and far more glamorous than anything I've ever bought, which I agree should be the aim really!

@Tillyscoutsmum that's such a beautiful colour, and an amazing shape, I don't normally like such a low neck though as I have sun damage there Sad The RL one is pretty, but only in a size six at the moment!

@AdriannaP thank you for all your ideas! I love a few of them especially the LK Bennett ones, and hadn't thought of metallic but the metallic Adrianna Papell one is amazing, and would definitely be a step up in glamour for me. The Ghost dress is also beautiful and worth considering...

@HeyMicky some great dresses there, love the range of colours. Will investigate.

@TheGirlOnTheLanding I just can't do velvet. I have to get over it, but I really don't like it. A shame, because that's a stunning colour.

I love that emerald green Ghost one! That’s so elegant. I need to find an event so I’ve got an excuse to buy that!

Quitelikeacatslife · 26/05/2021 08:49

I'm bigger than you but I think Scarlett and jo are good for super flattering dresses and great price so you can get some amazing shoes and maybe headpiece or jewellery
I also think the vintage look is very gorgeous and you will feel super special.

Oh my I've gone down a Nancy Mac rabbit hole, they are really beautiful and special

Quitelikeacatslife · 26/05/2021 08:59

That Hobbes dress is stunning 🤩

April85 · 26/05/2021 12:47

Have you looked at Bombshell?

AdriannaP · 26/05/2021 14:05

I think with your hair colour metallic would look amazing.

PeacheyPeach · 26/05/2021 14:12

I love the first John Lewis dress that was shown and the silk Fred one. Also love that velvet jumpsuit, I've seen that on Instagram on a bride who wore flowers in her hair with it ,it looks so nice
Even though it is just going to be your. Husband to be and yourself if it was me id be upping the glamour stakes, this is your special day!!!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 26/05/2021 18:29

@Ulelia 'I just can't do velvet.'
See, I'm the opposite - I love the stuff! Grin However, they do have the same style of jumpsuit in crepe (the emerald is especially lovely) and several rather gorgeous dresses too.
