For my goddaughter. Any ideas please? I've asked her mum who has said she likes makeup (which I knew already of course) but still not sure what to get. Makeup doesn't feel like a great present. She's at college studying beauty. Not sure how to describe her style but pretty normal 18 year old stuff - sportswear but make it glam.

What's your budget? Set of makeup brushes? Ties in with her interests but a bit more substantial than makeup for a milestone birthday. Decent makeup brushes can last years.

My niece asked for make up for her 18th birthday. On the advice of my DDs, who are in their early 20s, I bought a Morphe eyeshadow palette. DNiece was very pleased with it, and my younger niece wants to borrow it all the time, so I conclude it was a good present!

Thanks both. I was thinking £50-100 depending on what I get!

I was hoping to get something a bit more 'permanent' if that makes sense but maybe brushes are a good idea with a palette.

Jewellery would be good but NO IDEA what is cool, although I think I remember Vivienne Westwood necklaces being popular for young uns a while ago?!

If you do decide on brushes you can often find them cheaper on eBay

I bought my dd a simple pendant with a cubic zirconia stone. She wears it every day.

Or what about a leather backpack?

What about a really nice beauty case for all her bits.

Urban Decay makeup is great, lovely palettes and lip glosses for teens.

A lovely eyeshadow palette could go down well. Personally, I would go higher end, Morphe is ok but it's quite accessible in price point so she could buy that herself. Something like Pat McGrath or Natasha Denona would be lovely, and at 18 she probably couldn't afford one herself.
