Help with skincare

I'm stuck in a total rut with my skincare, I use Superdrug vitamin e cream, really cheap and ok but it's my birthday coming up (48!) and I want to get a whole new regime going.

Any ideas please? I saw on here that someone said vitamin c cream was good for brightening which is what I feel I need and my skin always improves when I use a facial oil. But I'm stuck for ideas, can anyone help with a brand please?!

Hi OP. I can't really help with brands because I haven't tried many but I have recently started to get more serious with skincare. This is what I currently do

Am
Cleanse
Toner
Either Vit C serum or blemish serum when I'm hormonal for spots
Moisturiser
Facial oil (I have a vitamin oil and an anti ageing oil with rose hip)
SPF

Pm
Cleanse
Toner
Chemical exfoliant with AHAs or retinol (only use twice a week and it's a low dose in squalene from The Ordinary as I'm new to using it)
Moisturiser
Facial oils

I am sure some lovely women will be along to suggest brands and types. I've been using mostly tropic but only because I had no idea where to start and I approached a friend at work who I know sells them and she directed me to a basic regime. As I get more comfortable in this arena I plan to branch out and try some other products. I would say I can't see much visual difference yet but I feel my skin is softer and no dry patches and I thoroughly enjoy pampering myself each morning and evening.
