What to wear for anniversary night out?

I’m so uninspired for clothes at the moment!

I’ve lost 3 stone and now a size 16 (big boobs and arms)!!
Me and DH are going to York in July for our anniversary and planning to have a big night out whilst there assuming the restrictions will be eased/gone!!

Any ideas of what to wear? I’m not a big heel wearer but don’t mind some chunky heels, but do love my DMs and have a new patent Chelsea boot style I am thinking of wearing.

I am more of a dress wearer than jeans etc. I would like to show off my slightly slimmer figure a bit but do want to hide my arms and mum tum! I would describe my normal dress sense as slightly bohemian, slightly edgy but girly.

Anybody seen anything they think fits the bill? Items of clothing or general inspo!

Congratulations on your weight loss!

How about something like this? www.whistles.com/product/wheat-floral-midi-dress-33405.html

I think this would look great with your new DMs and for the girly / edgy / boho vibe

Thankyou!

That dress is lovely and definitely fits my sort of style, but don’t know if it’s a bit daytime for a night out. We are likely to go to cocktail bars etc.

I’d bling it up with some gold jewellery but maybe it’s because I’m in London which is more casual full stop, even in the evenings!

Have a look at & Other Stories too, they have some nice dresses which might fit the bill.

I imagine York is quite casual, I have no idea to be honest (I’m a southerner!!).

I think it’s the length, it is very much something I would wear in the daytime with sandals or trainers, and I think I want something a little more dressy/glam.

Shamelessly bumping for hopeful recommendations Grin

I quite like tuxedo dresses. Just googled that term and found this, I think it's really nice. York can definitely be quite glam. I love the opportunity to dress up myself, so I don't mind being over dressed. www.karenmillen.com/tuxedo-wrap-dress/AKK99711-105-22.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwna2FBhDPARIsACAEc_XgFP2Mw0ZzrV22gCf8I4G3oDtlY85SA5TS_ZH4WCSCNM8xm99JKnUaAsR7EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I would go for chunky heels rather than Chelsea boots in July. But beware the cobbles so no stilettos.

Also, York recommendation, Evil Eye cocktail bar, their strawberry daiquiris are delightful

Oh that’s lovely but not my style at all. I’m not that sophisticated 😂

www.warehousefashion.com/animal-belted-flippy-dress-with-short-sleeve/AWW00966.html This would be cool with ankle boots and maybe put your own black waist belt with it rather than the one that’s on the dress

Or this one www.warehousefashion.com/wrap-dress-with-batwing-sleeve-in-animal/AWW01074.html

(It seems I’m currently going through an animal print phase....)

Ooo I like the pink one, thankyou!

Thankyou, neither of them are very me. Possibly a little older style than I’m looking for, I’m 30.

I love these outfits, these are my sort of style except I am a lot larger than these ladies!! So after something similar but to suit my size.

Echoing the poster who says York is quite glam for a night out, I think because it’s a ‘destination’ night out. Obviously some venues are more glam than others though, but I think some places eg The Ivy are more glam than some of their branches elsewhere. And also agree with taking the cobbles into account when choosing footwear!

Lj8893 · 25/05/2021 14:09

Hmm I might have to reassess how glam I go then! Maybe I need to go more glam!

Do you know where you are planning to go out? That might help decide how glam to be!

Imtoooldforallthis · 26/05/2021 06:53

I am same shape as you and recently bought this, it is suprisingly flattering.

Planning to go to an escape room and then explore the bars or York city centre!

Ok so I bought this dress today (not the most flattering photo, it’s much nicer in reality!!) and I won’t be wearing tights on the night either.

What sort of shoes? Considering I am not a regular heel wearer and York is very cobbled!

Was thinking some boots like these?

Yeah a boot like that would be fine for walking around in. I think your outfit will be perfect for your plans! Have fun!
