Silkfred - tell me about them?

Hello everyone

I’ve seen some nice things on Silkfred, but something about the website makes it seem like a scam. I’ve looked on Twitter and it seems like they spend most of their time replying to customers who are unhappy their stuff hasn’t arrived for weeks...

Has anyone used them and got good experiences? And does anyone know anything about the company’s ethical standards that they could share? Something about it smacks very much of illegal underpaid garment workers...

Thanks!

I have ordered a few things from them and I have always been happy. In fairness I have never had to use their customer services but overall I was rather happy with the service and price/quality.

As far as I know it is a marketplace so lots of independent brands sell on there. The service and quality may vary depending on the brand.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 23/05/2021 11:47

It is a marketplace but I get the impression the “brands” are very much of the “cheap Chinese made” type. As opposed to say Wolf and Badger which is a marketplace for quality small brands. I have never bought from them though so I may be being unfair.

I've bought a few things from silkfred, all been decent quality and never had any issues

MilduraS · 23/05/2021 14:31

I bought the dove dress recently and it's really lovely. I was worried the material might be bad quality and see through but no issues there. The stitching is good quality too. I think customer service depends on the brand rather than SilkFred themselves because my invoice said items may be sent out at different times if they are from different brands which suggests they aren't holding them in a warehouse. I ordered my dress on a Monday and it arrived by Friday the same week.

Ive bought a few things and i love them. Great quality and refunds are done quickly. DD buys a lot from Shein and no issues

Yes! This is exactly the sentiment I get from them and what I’m worried about!

@MrsDThomas are Shein and Silkfred related?

Im not sure OP.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 23/05/2021 20:05

They aren’t. Shein are a Chinese company who sell very cheap clothes almost certainly made by slave labourers. Please don’t buy from them as you will be very likely perpetuating the rape and torture of Uyghur women in China.

nevernotstruggling · 23/05/2021 20:07

I have a dress from silk fred. It was cheap and the quality reflects the price. It's been look level quality

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/05/2021 20:14

I've had a few lovely things from them, and no problems with returns either.

Trouva is pretty good too.

This is what I thought.

Thanks everyone for thoughts. I remain unconvinced and won’t be buying from them...
