If you had £200-250 to spend on a bag what would you get?

I've never had a 'good' bag, I've never spent more than £60 and that was on CK years ago.
I would like to buy one but probably not til Christmas. I prefer crossbody but it needs to be a decent size.
Is it doable in this budget?

I bought an APC bag in the sale.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 22/05/2021 15:07

Check out Elvis & Kresse. Their firehose bags will look good and last forever.

I was just about to recommend Elvis and Knesse!!! I have a cross body bag in red and absolutely love it. I am a bag person but have not used another since buying this one. They also donate a percentage of their profits to fire workers charity.

Readyorknot · 22/05/2021 15:27

Another vote for coach if you can get for that price in the sale. IME they use great leather which wears well.

Cocolapew · 22/05/2021 15:30

Thanks everyone, I'm spoilt for choice now Smile

Don’t forget to regularly the bags on tkmax website. It’s a bit of a hobby of mine.....

AvengingGerbil · 22/05/2021 16:20

If it was me, I’d spend £30 on a bag from the market and £220 on almost anything else!

Like a bench?
Cocolapew · 22/05/2021 16:56

I've got plenty of £30 bags.

I've just spent that on a Fairfax and Favor bag which I think is absolutely gorgeous, although I'm not sure they're quite what you're after (although I can give you a 10% off code if you like!).
I love my Coach bag - it's great quality. Mine used to get so battered at work, carrying my Mac etc., being flung onto the car passenger seat/the boot/chucked in the drawer at work and it still looks new. Osprey bags I like, but all of mine seem to fall apart within a year.

randomkey123 · 22/05/2021 18:08

Osprey do have outlet stores, we've got one locally (Gloucester Quays) and it's a treasure trove. I bought a red leather hobo last year and matching purse for £150. I've got a beige suede tote, and 2 black leather totes too as well as a passport cover and rather a lot of scarves..... Blush

TheMotherlode · 22/05/2021 18:20

I love my Kate Spade Tote. Lots of different colours/versions on the website.

JingsMahBucket · 22/05/2021 18:21

@Juancornetto I was waiting for somebody to suggest a bench! 😂

AvengingGerbil · 22/05/2021 19:48

Sorry, I didn’t mean to be snide (and I don’t know what the bench thing is). I was answering the question as posed - what would I get - but I realise that wasn’t really what you wanted to know. I’ll go away quietly!

Cocolapew · 22/05/2021 20:45

It's ok gerbil, I see what you mean now Smile
I'm trying to buy decent stuff that will last rather than buy things I don't need replace things all the time.

The bench thing was from a similar post a few years ago where the OP was asking for advice on buying an expensive bag and someone suggested they buy a bench instead Grin It gets brought up again from time to time
Cocolapew · 22/05/2021 21:30

Tbf I am looking for a garden bench atm, they're like hens teeth Hmm

I came on to say Coach or Kate Spade. In addition I'd look at Michael Kors, Great if you avoid the obvious branding, good leather and well made.

KeyboardWorriers · 23/05/2021 14:17

I came on to suggest Coach as well!

Oldraver · 23/05/2021 16:07

I'd raid the piggy bank to add to this

I have a yellow tote - I don;t use it much asny more as I've been WFH for 3 years. But I have used it lots and it still looks as it did the day I bought it:

And a small post bag in red:

I've love a reporter bag but can hardly justify it as I never go anywhere anymore - maybe next birthday ......

Bananaman123 · 24/05/2021 20:00

guess outlets are brilliant and always have a good range only 50 to 70 pounds. That also looks similar to fossil, again go to outlet.

I recently bought 2 Sutton hobo bags from coach as a 40th treat, love them so much (sale and outlets). I never pay full price for anything

Chocolateteabag · 26/05/2021 16:57

I'm going to throw Vestiare Collective into the mix - £300 on a preloved bag and you've got Mulberry Chloe etc in the mix

Or you can get a Coach or Kate spade etc for a lot less than £300

Plus there are a couple of "spend £200 get £x off" intro offers

teawamutu · 26/05/2021 19:31

The Little Leather Handbag Co is a one-woman UK business - does bags including an ace convertible backpack/shoulder bag in lovely leather in any colour/combo you ask for.

I got one for my birthday, it's lush and only about half your budget.

Don't know anything about designer type bags but I would say Coach - they are great quality, have had a few now and would buy again.
