High-end fashion for mid-size/plus-size

I love fashion, but a lot of it isn't suitable for my shape and size...or budget tbf, which is more Mango than Marni! But I still like to look at the higher end stuff and very occasionally will invest in something more spendy.

If you are mid-plus and love fashion, where do you look and shop?

For me at the high street end, it's H&M, M&S, Zara, Mango, Uniqlo. I love Marina Rinaldi, Anna Scholz, Balmain and Alexander McQueen (who I think now sell plus size clothes).

About me; I'm 37, with small DCs, battling with my 'baby weight', (now a preschooler), at the moment and am back down to a 16 ,(sometimes a 14 or 18). I'm still trying to lose weight, but, as I'm tall with a large frame, I'm usually a 14/16 even when a healthy weight. I have been underweight and was still a good 10/12, more often a 12, so I do think I'm just built fairly big (but not quite as big as I currently am).

I am broad of shoulder, large of boob and hip, smaller of waist, with decent legs.

I love classic clothing, tailoring and heels, (as long as I can walk in them). But also like to follow trends, without going ott.

Planning what trends I can make work on my figure for s/s and a/w 2021 and some are a "hell no" (Cut out dresses, midriff flossing - haaaaa! No), and some are a "perhaps" (floaty maxi dresses, knee boots for autumn and mini skirts).

I love Toast for their generous sizing.

Thanks, I love the look of some of the dresses in Toast. Not sure they're 100% 'me' but I still like them. I actually have only had one thing from Toast; some khaki, cropped flare things a few years ago. Is there anything you especially love from there?

I love their Gabi cord trousers as they are super easy to wear and have an elasticated waist which I need! Blush really good quality fabric too. Hush is also good for being very generous with their sizes. I’m usually a medium there when in most stores I’m a L or XL or bigger as I’m a size 14-16 - hope this helps!

I find Joe Browns have some nice pieces in larger sizes. Unusual designs in great colours too. Also Orientique, an Australian company do some lovely things though it can be hit or miss with their stock.

I second the Toast recommendation.... Lots of their stuff would look amazing with your height and frame.

Thanks, I have been browsing in there today. Some very nice things! The dresses which pop up a lot on my phone are louder prints than I'd typically go for, but the online store is definitely more understated.

I haven't heard of Orientique before either, so will check them out too Smile

Ganni?

MaryTheMiddle · 22/05/2021 19:16

Oh I didn't know Ganni did bigger sizes, thanks! I've seen people wearing it before and liked it.
