Help! I want a good quality necklace

I have a big birthday coming up and my parents have offered to treat me. I think I would like a necklace - I generally wear gold but I want good quality and subtle. Nothing too garish that would date. Budget £300 - £500. Where should I look?? As an aside, I'd also be interested in getting some new clothes. Again, classic but modern. Nothing that ages me but things that will last some time. I am v petite size 8 and slightly pear-shaped. Thank you!

That sounds lovely OP!
Do you like gold or silver?
Contemporary or vintage?
You could take a look at Alex Monroe, Georg Jenson, Anoushka, Blackbird, Rachel Swan for ideas
I hope you find something you love! If given the choice I always ask for jewellery for occasions as I really love it!

I live Gill Clement... she’s local to me and I love her stuff www.gillclement.com/

Thanks! I didn't really know where to start so I'll check out those places you mention. I think a gold and something fairly delicate. Maybe slightly vintage looking.

My parents bought me this memory keeper locket from Lily Blanche for my 40th. It's really lovely in the flesh. Also available in yellow and rose gold.

I am also a big fan of the Memory Keeper Locket. I have it in yellow gold and I wear it most days on a long chain Layered with a small birthstone pendant. It’s great quality and beautifully made. It has 6 photos inside of my family and it is engraved on the back. I love it that I can have all my kids with me in my locket. I also have the matching bracelet and earrings. The bracelet has secret engraving of my children’s names on the back of the links. It’s really special. They also do other unusual lockets. www.lilyblanche.com/collections/lockets/ Astley Clarke also do nice lockets.

Anoushka is very expensive. Look at ECOne they have lots of designers, varying prices and some gorgeous stuff.

Highly recommend Blue nile. Can't go wrong with a classic diamond necklace, you can select the stone and setting , check www.bluenile.com/diamond-jewelry/diamond-necklaces

You could get something bespoke?

Happyelfjokeday · 22/05/2021 14:22

Tomfoolery has some lovely necklaces by different designers so different styles, you can filter/sort by price which helps! I got a lovely delicate gold one recently for £345

Donitta · 22/05/2021 14:26

Alighieri has some nice necklaces. Mostly gold plated but some options are available in solid silver and gold.

WillowSummerSloth · 22/05/2021 15:46

This is all great thanks. I'll be having a good look at all of these.

Mini update - I'm going to go for an Alex Monroe 18ct gild one. Thanks for suggesting it-I would never have found the website otherwise. I've not chosen the specific one yet but possibly the dragonfly, the bee or the feather.

Great choice. Have a wonderful birthday.

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 25/05/2021 20:05

Good choice OP
I suggested Alex Monroe Grin
I had a beautiful necklace from him & I lost it. Mine was a little owl with ruby eyes sitting in a hoop made to look like the branch of a tree. I think dh hoovered it up. I'm still not over it!
Happy birthday & hoping you get years of pleasure wearing it
