Brittle nails and salon treatments

Hi, I have very peely fragile nails (which I’m mortified to say I bite. Awful I know).
I recently had poly dip first with tips then had tips removed and had just the poly dip. I love the look of the nails and it lasts a couple of weeks. But after two rounds my nails seemed very brittle and the polish cracked and came right off one nail.
So, is there something that’s better than poly dip for brittle nails? Could it be because they use the drill to buff top layer?
Apologies if polydip is an Aussie name for the polish....it’s a dipping system with powder.

I had terrible nails, I bit the bullet 3 years ago and started having gel extensions, was really worried at lock down last year but when I took them off (and left them off) my nails were in far better condition.
