Holy grail for frizz after rain

Anyone have a hair product they swear by to stop the frizz that occurs after being in the rain or humid?

Following as i need some kind of miracle!

Sallycinnamum · 21/05/2021 10:03

OP I have very curly hair and in my 49 years I still haven't found any product that stops my hair frizzing in damp weather!

My hairdresser recommended a product that basically coats the hair in a waterproof sheen but it was massively expensive and left my hair in terrible condition. Think it was from KMS.

I've given up now. I just tie it up in wet weather and wear a coat with a hood!

RacheyCat · 21/05/2021 14:03

Color Wow Dreamcoat Spray is actually excellent. I haven't tried the one for curly hair, but the one you seal in by blow-drying works so well. Leaves my hair weightless and silky.

There's a similar frizz-ease product which also works, but does leave my hair feeling like it has product in. I used it last week, plus some frizz-ease hairspray and my hair was still holding its style after a whole day of humidity and a very sweaty yoga class. But it doesn't feel nice like the Color Wow stuff. My hair stays in place but it doesn't swoosh silkily. But it is a third of the price...

ineedaholidayandwine · 21/05/2021 14:11

Thanks @RacheyCat, i had heard of that product so good to get a recommendation

Estellelauder · 21/05/2021 14:12

None. Hair tied up and big hat.

Tinkletwat · 21/05/2021 14:18

I concur with the Color Wow Dreamcoat, I have straight hair that does go frizzy so can't speak for other hair types. A little goes a long way and it lasts, is often on offer at look fantastic or feel unique.

Lb1204 · 21/05/2021 14:21

It doesn't exist

ArabeI · 21/05/2021 14:35

I like the sound of the Dreamcoat and it seems to have good reviews, but it also appears you need to blow dry to activate it. I rarely blow dry my hair, prefer to leave to air dry.

ArabeI · 21/05/2021 14:36

I'm with Estelle and the need for tied up hair and big hats being the only thing to do.

Girlintheframe · 21/05/2021 15:40

Sebastian Professional Re shaper hair spray is excellent.
It is £££ but lasts for ages and work with my fine but coarse frizzy hair.

Another one voting for a hat. It's the only thing that truly works.

FFSFFSFFS · 21/05/2021 16:02

Bumble spray is quite good at rejuvenating post frizz

Amelia666 · 21/05/2021 16:05

Omg not the dreaded “Pubic Frizz” 😱😱😱

Watching for a solution with baited breathe!

Amelia666 · 21/05/2021 16:06

To clarify that’s regarding a pubic frizz on the head following rain, not from strutting around bare in the 70s.

IsThePopeCatholic · 21/05/2021 16:10

Try coconut oil.

Sallycinnamum · 21/05/2021 16:15

Yeah if you don't dry your hair the Color Wow stuff is useless. I've got a shelf full of products that promise to beat the frizz and none of them work in damp weather.

Even if I dry my hair with my precious Dyson it still goes berserk when a teeny bit of moisture hits it.

If only they'd bring back those plastic rain hoods my nan used to have in her handbag at all times!

aurea · 21/05/2021 16:16

This product line virtually eliminates frizz in curly hair that gets wet in rain.

Colour Wow left my hair a stringy frizzy mess I hated it.

Understandingnotignorance · 21/05/2021 18:45

Ohh seems like the search continues... I've tried the whole John frieda range to no avail. I've heard mixed reviews on the dream coat but may give it a go then.

I've just had my second ever Kerastraight treatment and it has been worth its weight in gold (not that it weighs much but you know what I mean). The only thing which means my hair doesn't frizz. It's very nice going out and not worrying about it frizzing up.

If you have nice waves / curls, you can still have it and just wash it out quite quickly after you have it and it shouldn't frizz.

Mine has gone straight, but I like that.

FlattestWhite · 21/05/2021 19:23

still looking myself.

Color Wow didn't help me, sadly.

but if you want to try it, you can get the sample size version at marks and spencer, so it's not as great an outlay.

FlattestWhite · 21/05/2021 19:26

which of the Only Curls products helped?

I need something that I can just put on once it's already frizzy, as I don't wash it all that often since it doesn't need it. But it gets frizzy quickly despite trying various things

TeddingtonTrashbag · 21/05/2021 19:29

I have the frizziest hair normally but have been having keratin treatment at the hairdresser every 2 months (when open!) and it works.
I know go boldly out into damp weather/drizzle with no fear.

aurea · 21/05/2021 20:09

Only Curls

I use the cleansing wash, conditioner, curl cream and curl gel.

If I had to choose my favourite two products, it's the curl cream and gel. These are amazing.

You could use other sulphate free shampoo/conditioner if you prefer.

You wash your hair and condition. Leave the conditioner in for a bit and scrunch in. Rinse. Then squeeze a little of the wetness out of your hair and put on curl cream and rake through hair. Scrunch dry with an old T SHIRT (def not a towel) holding each scrunch a few seconds. Then apply gel and scrunch again. Leave to dry naturally.

It really, really works and curls behave well in the rain.
