Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to get my mum for her 70th birthday
I've already about a few bits and bobs - flowers, cake, gardening stuff etc. but looking for a main gift
Thinking maybe a classic bag or watch?
Budget around £500 but could stretch to £1000 if it was something special

Not a classic but stylish and easy to read

Birthstone jewellery? Earrings maybe?

I'm not so very far off that age and my suggestions are:

Something bespoke made, e.g jacket/bag/jewellery.
A new phone or laptop.
A night and breakfast at the Ritz (not sure what that costs).
Vouchers for somewhere like Net a Porter (or if it was me, for Margaret Howell or Vivienne Westwood).

I think that with such a big present you want to get it exactly to her specifications so personally I wouldn't try and make it a surprise, I would tell her what you want to buy and then involve her in choosing - for some of those ideas you would have to do that anyway. It would then also mean she gets to spend time with you and that will be the most precious thing of all.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone
I think the watch might be too snazzy for her but I do like the idea of jewellery or an activity with overnight stay! Smile

Lots to think about thank you 🙏

Definitely an activity or experience, like a really lovely meal

My Mum is 80 later this year but very fit still thankfully. I'm planning a few days in London for her big present and a few lovely things to open. Perfume, nice but not expensive jewellery, a scarf, good chocolates, a nice liquor. Not really decided on the bits and pieces yet
