Style/ beauty magazines?!

No flaming/calling me out please, please keep it light hearted!

I know all the style advice is probably best on insta etc but I'm craving an actual clothes/beauty magazine for flicking through when I get 5 mins after the baby is asleep. I used to enjoy a magazine or two back in the day when I went to a hairdresser in pre covid times.

I realise this is a weird request but I'm just a tired mummy so please keep it kind x

Why would we flame you? I quite like reading a magazine - you read differently when it's a paper copy.

Grazia might suit you.

Tehmina23 · 20/05/2021 13:37

I like Grazia & Red, although the clothes can be a bit expensive.

Season1Episode1 · 20/05/2021 13:39

They are all quite expensive these days so I only get one usually. Woman & Home.
I used to like Look - cheap and cheerful and full of clothes!

AprilLady · 20/05/2021 13:47

I’d recommend a Readly subscription as a start. For a monthly fee of £7.99 you get access to literally 100s of magazines. You can only read them virtually (works well on an iPad) but it would give you a chance to see what you like, and then you can always buy any you actually want a a paper copy of.

Fashion/beauty magazines on Readly include Grazia, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Tatler etc

AprilLady · 20/05/2021 13:50

Red, Woman and Home too!

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 20/05/2021 14:02

No point in mentioning the magazines I used to love that are sadly no longer in print. But as of now my current fav is Hello Fashion. I think it mostly comes out monthly, but some months are a double month like April/May in one issue for example:

Feel your pain! I miss magazine & used to love instagram but no longer interested in it.

I get Harper's & Hello Fashion

JemimaMuddledUp · 20/05/2021 20:07

I've used my Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for magazine subscriptions this year. We usually spend them on days out, but Covid... I'm really enjoying having real physical magazines to flick through instead of reading from a screen.

My fashion and beauty guilty pleasure is Grazia.

Laundrydragon · 20/05/2021 21:44

Yay thanks for all the lovely suggestions... They all sound perfect.

Jemima the clubcard points is a great idea! Definitely going to do that.

I like Grazia, Red and Hello Fashion for inexpensive realistic clothes and articles, like pp said.
I bought a bundle of Harpers Bazaar, Elle and also Vogue and must be getting old as it was all odd fashion with super long funnel neck jumpers and huge belted puffa coats with see through nighties underneath worn by sulky faced models and strange editorials with italics! Shock
I used to love all that stuff-now I'm looking at it thinking it's all daft bobbins!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/05/2021 23:16

I have Grazia and Red on subscription - I miss Marie Claire!

ilovecherries · 20/05/2021 23:34

I miss Marie Claire as well. I buy Grazia most weeks, Pinch my daughter’s Red and Cosmo.

BusterGonad · 21/05/2021 04:42

Hello Fashion is my favourite, then Grazia for all Things fashion. Glamour is also okay.

I love the Avon book and the Benefit brochure, I just find nothing more relaxing then reading about beauty products.

BusterGonad · 21/05/2021 08:41

I also loved Look magazine. I love a, make up step by step guide. I remember learning how to do a smoky eye from a magazine. Great days. 😊

MorrisZapp · 21/05/2021 08:42

Who doesn't love and miss magazines? I wouldn't be the woman I am today without Mizz, Looks, Just Seventeen, 19, Company, Cosmo and the much lamented, short lived Minx.

NeedWineNow · 21/05/2021 08:49

I still love a magazine! Since working from home over the last year I don't buy as many - I always used to treat myself to a 'Friday Glossy' for the train home from work - but I still get Red, Woman & Home and occasionally Grazia. I'm addition I get Style at Home and Your Home for a bit of interior design inspiration.

BusterGonad · 21/05/2021 08:53

I remember when Minx first came out, it was a good one.
When I was younger (maybe 16) I remember my sister was binning loads of Cosmopolitan and Company and I cut all the make up pages out to keep. I was and am still obsessed.
