sports bra recommendations please

i'm looking for something i can get on without having to dislocate a shoulder, not too restrictive as its only for walking/hiking but i want to stop everything jiggling about.

a bra/crop top that doesn't give me a squashed sweaty monoboob, size 34ff/g. i'm fat and ageing and everything is just soft and droopy these days.

does anyone have any recommendations please?

Shock Absorber is the best I've found. I've used them from a 36H to a 32F

poppym12 · 19/05/2021 21:37

thank you @WineGetsMeThroughIt. do you order your normal size or do you need to size down?

Shock absorbers are very tight, I need to go up at least one back size, if not 2

dementedpixie · 19/05/2021 22:10

I don't get on with shock absorber bras. I like panache ultimate underwired bras

Y0YO · 19/05/2021 22:22

I've just bought this one, so far so good:

www.bravissimo.com/products/apollo-sports-bra-ln823/

It's not totally bounce proof but it's quite comfortable. No good for running but I've found it's fine for a gym class (I'm same size as you).

I usually have shock absorbers but fancied a change.

Miraloma · 19/05/2021 22:28

Nike Alpha is amazing

Suasthuasanuas · 19/05/2021 23:01

Lululemon Enlite is fantastic. A bit expensive but absolutely keeps everything where it's meant to be. So comfortable that it's my bra of choice for everyday too.

mrsgiraffe · 19/05/2021 23:05

I’m with @dementedpixie on this one. Panache Ultimate Sports bra is comfortable, super-supportive and goes on like a normal bra. I’m more or less the same size as you @poppym12 and though the Shockabsorbers are supportive they were too difficult to put on (in the right size) and there’s no point going bigger if I want support.
Panache also comes in some fab colours!!

Thank you. I'll order a selection from Bravissimo as they seem to stock a variety of brands. Does anyone know when fitting rooms might reopen?

Anita extreme control (available on Amazon and elsewhere, German brand) is the best I’ve found. As with most sports bras I go up a back size for comfort for low impact activities like hiking.

poppym12 · 20/05/2021 09:03

I can't seem to find a Nike Alpha above an E cup @Miraloma (or is it sized differently to standard UK bras?).

I've just been through a massive bra shopping rigmarole! I'm the same size as you and wear the shock absorber ultimate run bra for running, but for walking (and general everyday because I'm all about comfort over style these days) I'm finding the underwired sports bras waaay more comfy than the crop top styles. Much less sweaty cleavage! Bravissimo and Freya both do an underwired style that fit me really well. They are supportive with thick straps that aren't going anywhere.

Re sizing, I wear a 34G in the Bravissimo, and a 34FF in the Freya.

Good luck! I hate bra shopping!

CMOTDibbler · 20/05/2021 09:25

Runderwear Easy On bras are my favourite now. You wear your actual size, they are actually easy to put on and don't give you monoboob and are comfortable

dementedpixie · 20/05/2021 09:28

Boobydoo website also stocks different brands

LadyDanburysHat · 20/05/2021 09:36

If you want something that isn't going to give monoboob, like Shock Absorbers do. I hate them, but they are necessary for me for running. Try Panache underwired ones. They keep your boobs separate and fasten normally.

poppym12 · 22/05/2021 18:17

I've been shopping and come home with a shock absorber as it's the best I tried on (very limited as no Bravissimo in town). I couldn't find a Panache one anywhere. It fits well but does squash everything so I'm not sure I'm totally happy with it.

The search continues....

I've never bought a sports bra in a shop. I buy online so I can try on at my leisure
