Which one? Clueless how to dress myself!

I ordered these online and love the flowery cami dress but I'm not sure whether the green dress suits me?

For info, I'm 36, size 10/12 on top and 14/16 on the bottom. I've got friends and colleagues that are in their early-mid 20s so on one hand I don't want to look old and unfashionable when we go out, but on the other hand I want to be comfortable and not look like I'm dressing too young. Help! Should I stick to my safe dress style or go for something different? I'm newly single and having a bit of a crisis of confidence!

I like the second one on you.

cathyandclare · 18/05/2021 17:55

The flowery one looks gorgeous on you!

Ostara212 · 18/05/2021 17:55

It's obviously personal but I think that shade of green is beautiful, I'd love something that colour! I also think it would work for any occasion whereas the flowery one feels like it needs the weather we don't have yet!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 18/05/2021 17:58

Vote for flowery.

Amdone123 · 18/05/2021 18:01

I think you look great in both of them ! Buy both.

Artesia · 18/05/2021 18:03

The flowery one is lovely. Think it shows off your figure much better than the first one- it emphasises your waist. Am also not so keen on the belt with the first one, and wonder if the colour might be a bit draining?

Bluntness100 · 18/05/2021 18:04

I think the flowery one is really unflattering on you. To be fair I don’t think either are doing you any favours but the shade is green is beautiful

The cami flowery one is aging and unflattering.

tunainatin · 18/05/2021 18:06

2nd one definitely. That really suits your figure.

tigerbreadandtea · 18/05/2021 18:06

I don't think either are that flattering sorry OP

OodieWoodie · 18/05/2021 18:09

The green one looks like it is a bit tight, it's sitting slightly awkward around the waist. I don't like the belt on it. It needs a black or dark brown thin, plain belt.

The other one is far too long. Something knee length would be much better on you.

Timeforsinging81 · 18/05/2021 18:11

I'd definitely wear a different belt with the green dress, probably a tan coloured one. The colour, material and skirt bit are great, it's the top half that puts me off. Mainly the neckline feels a bit mumsey to me.

The flowery dress is great for casual garden or pub get togethers but I also need something for a proper evening out, which has been years since I've been out out, so I don't know how dressed up people get. Things have moved on from my 'jeans and a nice top' student days! I think I can get away with a shortish dress too.

The second one gets my vote is add a tan belt to emphasise your waist more.

Rattysparklebum · 18/05/2021 18:14

Not being able to see your face, the first green dress makes me think you are in your 20’s to early 30’s, the flowery dress makes me think you are in your 50’s, it looks quite frumpy

Timeforsinging81 · 18/05/2021 18:17

OodieWoodie I think it looks weird round the middle because I have massive hips which dip in sharply. I like empire line usually for this reason but at my age wearing it tends to raise suspicion of pregnancy Hmm

CarpeVitam · 18/05/2021 18:20

Definitely the second one OP

ILoveMyMonkey · 18/05/2021 18:21

I really like the second one on you. I think the first one is quite unflattering on you and too short.

accentdusoleil · 18/05/2021 18:21

I actually like the first one more . With some nice wedges

Feather12 · 18/05/2021 18:23

I think the shape of both suit you and accentuate your waist. I think the colours are a bit insipid though.

BusinessSteve · 18/05/2021 18:24

I like the floral one. Not keen on the green.

KidneyBeans · 18/05/2021 18:28

Neckline is too high in the green but colour and length are better.
Flowery one is a better neckline but way too mumsy looking

HaudYerWheestFella · 18/05/2021 18:30

I think they both look lovely on you OP but agree with a PP that the second dress needs the weather!

SpeckledyHen · 18/05/2021 18:31

Second one is the best , but I honestly think you could do much better by trying some other styles .

Tanaqui · 18/05/2021 18:33

The flowery one is a better shape on you, but the pattern doesn't seem very "young" iyswim. The green is not so flattering, it makes you look boxy- could you try it with a much wider belt? Or with some ankle boots maybe? Tbh I would be tempted to hit the shops again, sorry! (Neither are awful though! I just think there might be something g better out there!)

EllaPaella · 18/05/2021 18:35

I'm not keen at all on the green one sorry. If you are to keep one of the two then maybe try the second one in a smaller size as it looks a little too big around the chest but I think you could find a dress that works better for you.

KnottedFern · 18/05/2021 18:38

I like the floral one. Is it H&M? I think it's in my wish list. They also do it in black and white. It really suits your shape. I'm similar age to you, size 12/14 and I'd wear it with sandals/wedges and a denim jacket for a smart casual pub evening. I saw another comment you made about nights out and I still think jeans and a nice top is still acceptable for dressy night out. Black jeans, nice top and some chunky heels is my go to for 'Out Out'. Or a jumpsuit. I live in jumpsuits!
All of the of 'young' people I know (late teens early 20's) wear trainers & dresses on nights out now.
I don't like the green dress sorry. I agree the neckline makes it look frumpy and the chiffon makes it look slightly dated.
