Jeans Alternative

I usually wear jeans 7 days a week (unless I'm the summer or at work) and now I'm going to be working from home for the foreseeable future I was wondering what people wear as a jeans alternative that look nice enough to wear out? Jeans just aren't that comfortable!

I'm a size 12/14, age 40+ mum so do the school run twice a day. Quite often put jogging bottoms on in between school runs but they don't look great on me so wouldn't wear them out.

Are chinos still ok? Does anywhere even sell them anymore?

Thank you all!

Gap do good chinos - wouldn't say they're particularly stylish but they're pretty inoffensive!

Have you thought about more luxe joggers or wide legged trousers? Me & Em do some nice ones. Toast also usually have some nice wide legged trousers, I have a few high waisted pairs that I wear a lot in the summer.

I’m the same size as you OP and I too reach for jeans whenever I have to leave the house.

Chinos do nothing for me at all - I think I am not slim enough for them to hang well on me. I have a pair of cropped wide legged loose summer trousers (fisherman trousers?) from Thought which are amazingly comfortable when it’s warm enough - can wear with trainers or sandals. I have also ordered some tapered joggers/harems as another jeans alternative, which I am hoping will be smart enough to be seen out in (as opposed to my ancient joggers which I can slob about the house in).

I've recently bought some joggers in materials other than jersey from Next and can't believe how much comfier they are than jeans without looking too dowdy.

These are nice: www.next.co.uk/g6893s6/621620#621620

But these are so soft and unbelievably comfy: www.next.co.uk/g5722s7/269449#269449

I have the Next trousers linked in black and navy and love them.
Matalan do linen mix joggers which are nice

These are similar to the ones WillYouDoTheFandango has suggested:

These are the Matalan ones, they come in pink and a grey/blue as well.
