Plus size shops with nice clothes!

I'm going to an outside party, and looks like it's going to be chilly!

I've put on weight (again!) and need a new coat. I'm having trouble finding what I want in the usual shops online. Can anyone recommend somewhere that does decent plus size clothes?

I've tried all the usual places: Monsoon, Next, John Lewis, M&S, Boden, River Island, Mango, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, H&M, Evans, House of Fraser, Asos etc etc.

Is there anywhere obvious I've missed? I'm thinking maybe I need to find smaller boutique shops (ideally with a sale on!), can anyone recommend any?

Thanks :)

Boohoo and in the style do lovely plus size clothes

Invisimamma · 16/05/2021 15:28

Have you tried Yours Clothing, has a few nice bits from there and there's always a discount code somewhere.

Sainsburys Tu sometime has a surprisingly nice selection too.

Matalan?

ParisEncore · 16/05/2021 16:23

I've had some nice bits from H&M, but I ordered online.

I'm a 16/18 and quite tall with it.

Seasalt has a reputation for being frumpy and some of it is, but I've also had a few nice things from there and they do plus size.

Also, if you're on the lower end of plus sizes, Cos and Hush can be good and Hush especially runs big, so I reckon a 16 there would fit an 18/20 no bother.

Also ASOS has a lot, but I find the quality a bit hit and miss, so I'd factor that in and order a selection of things to try.

Failing all that, eBay maybe? I get nice things secondhand there.

I know what you mean op!

I've lost a little recently, but it's hard going.

bookishtartlet · 16/05/2021 20:16

I've had some great stuff from Shein, they do a curve range. Check reviews for each item, I've been pleasantly surprised with my purchases. Sizing is quite generous too, I've always ordered my size and its been on the larger side.

Xmasbaby11 · 16/05/2021 20:20

I'm a 22 and have had luck with John Lewis ( i can't remember the name but there's a plus size brand online) and Seasalt. I have only bought raincoats and coatigans though - think my winter coat is from Evans.

MamaWeasel · 16/05/2021 20:22

Look for Mantaray and Maine on ebay.....good luck!

Jellycatspyjamas · 16/05/2021 20:24

I’d echo John Lewis, they have a number of brands that do bigger sizes so there’s usually a decent choice.

KirstenBlest · 16/05/2021 20:47

Seasalt does plus sizes.

LettyLoman · 16/05/2021 20:50

You say next but have you tried them online?

LettyLoman · 16/05/2021 20:50

TK Max as well if you’re prepared to rummage.

Kabloom · 16/05/2021 20:51

I’m the same size and latest coats are from Junarose, Seasalt and Kin at John Lewis

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 16/05/2021 20:54

I've had some nice bits from Taking Shape online

randomkey123 · 16/05/2021 20:57

If you want something special, try Chesca either through John Lewis or Chesca direct where they sell other brands too. Mid range try Studio8, Marks and Spencer or Lands End plus. Worth looking at live unlimited too. Cheaper end, Yours clothing but I will be honest and say I've had an equal amount of success and horrors from there. I've also stopped buying from Simply Be as most of it either fades or falls apart after 2 washes and it's not cheap either.

TigerDroveAgain · 16/05/2021 20:59

Echo the suggestion of Marks: I bought my favourite ever dress from them a month or so ago : great fit and some decent styling. The days of the Per Suna sequinned horrors seem to have passed

TigerDroveAgain · 16/05/2021 21:00

Per Una Blush

MayIDestroyYou · 16/05/2021 21:08

Not really sure what sort of coat you want, but Marina Rinaldi is worth a try.

Oh, is Shein a legit shop? I'd got the idea it was one of those rip off websites, I must be mixing it up with something else!

Yes, I've looked at all of them online. My town is pretty rubbish for shops.

She in gets 3 stars on trust pilot, hints are look at customer reviews with photos and don't try to return anything.

goose1964 · 17/05/2021 06:10

Shein not she in.

BoattoBolivia · 17/05/2021 06:23

Ulla Popken have some lovely clothes- they are a German company but have a base over here. Not cheap but some bargains in the sales.
